Who rates this highly?   Outside of Kate Capshaw since that's when she got her hooks into Speilberg....?

I'm afraid Rotten Tomatoes does... believe it or not...  :-",

I disagree with 70-80% of the movies suggested so far.

I guess this would be off-topic, but what are your three favorite movie?

damn, that's an impossibly tough question... (surprised we don't have a thread for it)

1. The Matrix
2. Dark City
3. Evil Dead

Minnesota opens up the first round with a furry.  A stiff jab to Blade Runner.  A quick right hook to Fight Club.  And follows with a punishing blow to Ran.  But wait?  What's this? His guard's down, leaving the Matrix and Evil Dead wide open.  Does the opponent have enough let in him to counter?  Or has his confidence in his opinions of movies be knocked out by Minnesota's punishing blows.  Stick around to find out.

Is that my cue to argue?  I was just interested in what he thought were great movies considering he didn't like a lot of movies I thought were great.
But art is subjective and I don't argue about it.

Hey, I love Fight Club! Despite listing overrated movies that would obviously offend any movie critic, I could careless about my film rep as it were. The Matrix is a favorite of mine as is Evil Dead... Perhaps it would've helped to mentioned I agree with most of IMDB's top 250 (although not necessarily in the current order).

Proof that Rotten Tomatoes is too easily freeped by people with an agenda.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show isn't overrated. Those of us who see it every week will be the first to tell you it's terrible. Indeed, the entire Rocky Horror phenomenon (and, by extension, the entire idea of openly riffing movies) came from people's desire to make fun of it.

Now, you could say the experience of going to see Rocky Horror is overrated (and Kevin Murphy, for one, would agree with you), but that's not the same thing.

the agenda of liking Temple of Doom?

Yeah, it's part of that Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy to like Temple of Doom.  :)

Tripe

Anything by Hackentino, there isn't a thing he's made that I've been impressed by.

I'm going to agree with those who said "2001" (yaaaawwwn), "Children of Men" (the book was about 10 million percent better than the movie), and "300." I'm almost finished with the RiffTrax for that and I've been feeling deeply sorry for anyone who tried to watch it without benefit of Mike, Kevin, and Bill.

Any Wes Anderson movie, Donnie Darko, Napoleon  Dynamite and Little Miss Sunshine.
(or to keep up the level of biting wit perhaps I should have said Wes Yawnderson and Crappie Darko)
