RVR II

Had enchiladas for the first time in years.
My late wife's cousin works with me at my local post office and brought some plates in to work and man they were good!
They weren't too spicy either which is good as my stomach cannot handle real spicy foods.. :o
I didn't realize how much I missed them till today.

May have a new favorite "restaurant" that is not really a restaurant. Last year we headed out to go to a place that supposedly has the best fried fish in town. Place was packed with an hour wait for a table. Ended up at a dive bar filled with bikers a couple of blocks away that had great lightly breaded pan fried fish and cheap beer. Forgot about it until wife decided she wanted fried fish tonight. Just as good this second time. Not a very big menu - other than fried fish on Friday, mostly burgers and sandwiches - but prices all cheap compared to just about every other place around. Gonna have to go back and see if other options as good as fish.

Hit the area winter farmers market a couple of weekends ago - didn't know before my wife said she wanted to go that there was a winter market as stuff doesn't grow in Wisconsin in the winter- was mostly crafts and preserves. Bought a jar of bacon jam. Finally cracked it open tonight. Holy F is it great. Grilled some burgers for dinner and only condiment used was the bacon jam. Spicey, bacon-y, salty, sweet food nirvana.

Grocery store had American waygu ground beef on sale. Bought a pound and grilled some burgers. Was it really any different than normal ground beef? Hard to say. But burgers were damned good.

The quality of charcoal has gone to crap over the last few years. Doesn't matter if its name brand or generic it takes way too much lighter fluid to get it going. Trick I've found that works is to throw a piece of hardwood in the bottom of my charcoal starter chimney - usually use hickory. Uses a lot less lighter fluid and charcoal ready to use a lot quicker.
