Was concerned that 2lb chuck roast and 2.5 pound pork shoulder would end up dry or tough as most pork shoulders I smoke have been 4 to 8 pounds and smoke forvan hour and a half per pound. No way 3 hours of smoking was going to end up tender, so lowered the heat, smoked for 3 hours, put both beef and pork in a pan, added a beer to the pan, smoked for another 2 hours. Both beef and pork turned out great. Definitly plan on smoking a chuck roast again.

Tried the claire saffitz 'birthday cake' recipe, came out pretty stodgy and I may have overcooked it, so not really a win, the chocolate creame cheese frosting is a win though!

So freezer aisle Chuck E Cheese pizza...

MartyS (Gromit)

You know how on food packaging they always make the product look way better than what is in the box, just how bad must those Chuck E. Cheese pizzas look?  Yikes....

My new favorite condiment/dip/salad dressing/everything sauce is Bitchin' Sauce:

Can't say I've tried any variety other than the Chipotle flavor because that's what they carry at CostCo. Made from ground almonds, lime juice, and other seasonings.
Chipotle one tastes sort of like a chipotle lime cheese dip.

The wife did the grocery shopping yesterday and bought a rack of ribs on sale that she wanted me to cook for dinner tonight....absolutely no way to come home from work and cook a rack of ribs and have them ready in time to eat at a decent hour. So winged it. Normally I'd smoke a rack of ribs for 6 to 10 hours. Smoked this rack for 3 hours last night, had the wife throw them in the oven wrapped in foil for 3 hours at 200 degrees this afternoon, covered the rack in sauce when I got home and grilled them for about 5 minutes a side. Not quite as good as my normal smoking method, but still turned out pretty damned good.

Making Texas-Cincinnati chili tomorrow (Cincinnati chili recipe with the cinnamon, cloves, and allspice replaced with more cumin and some oregano). Unfortunately supposed to be close to 90 tomorrow, so not best weather for chili, but chili is one of the foods I crave when watching college football.

Week 1 Steelers @ Bills Sunday 1pm, might have to make some chicken wings in the oven at 400 for about 20 minutes then in the air fryer for another 15-20 minutes. Afterwards coating them with BBQ & Honey Mustard sauces :P

Homemade chicken soup for lunch and the next couple of days. Carton of unsalted chicken broth, a glass full of water,  lb of boneless chicken thighs, 4 sliced carrots, chopped onion, some garlic, salt and pepper. Everything put into slow cooker on low. Diced the chicken around hour 2. Added a couple of handfuls of egg noodles around hour 4 - 15 minutes before eating. Juiced a lemon and added at the end. Easy and so much better than salty canned Campbell's.

Smoked a pork shoulder for 12 hours yesterday. Shredded it using my drill shredder. Cool day out. Making smoked shredded pork chili for tonight. Never used pork in chili before.

Culvers (fastfood chain mostly in the midwest known for buttering the inside of their burger buns) posted a picture of a "curder burger" on April Fools Day as an April Fools Day joke- one of their regular burgers with an insanely big deep fried cheese curd on top. Got such a big response that they are actually going to make and sell it on National Cheese Curd Day on October 15. Will rank as insanely unhealthy by even fastfood standards, but I want one.
Culvers also known for extremely slow service as everythimg really is made to order and this will likely sell out quickly, so not sure I'll even make an attempt at killing myself with one.

Just the wife and I for T-day and I always do the cooking since she works retail and sleeps most of the day since she'll have to go to work at midnight to prepare for the annual Black Friday riot. Did all my prep work tonight. Cheater turkey (pre-smoked turkey that just needs to be heated) so no prep there. Made a homemade sugar free pumpkin cheese cake, made homemade bread and dried it and cooked the sausage and onions for the stuffing, and made deviled eggs. Gonna have to freeze half of everything but the eggs cause we'll never finish it otherwise.

I just hope our Bills don't disappoint tonight in New Orleans as I'll be enjoying some Turkey, Cornbread Shtuffing, Homemade Mac & Cheese, Cranberry sauce, and Sweet Potato Squares :P

Making turkey pot pie with left over turkey tomorrow. Missing peas, so subbing green beans to go with the carrots and onions.

Friday fish fries are a like a year round thing at every bar in Wisconsin. Went out for fried fish for the first time in a long time tonight. First place we tried to go to was packed. Ended up at a dive bar a couple of blocks further away. Lightly breaded pan fried perch served with a cup of melted butter. Not sure I've ever had melted butter with fried fish before, but it was artery hardeningly great.
