Yeah, if it can spread in a low contact sport like baseball it won't go well for other sports that let players live at home.

Next few days of testing the Phillies will tell.

So latest is MLB planning to bus Marlins players to Baltimore and play Tuesday game there instead of in Miami. Seems rushed and I would be pissed if I were a player. Safety aside, would also be pissed if I were a Marlins fan just because Marlins being expected to play minus at least 12 players makes them even closer to being a minor league team playing in the majors.

Latest is 15 of the Marlins 30 active players have tested positive. Tuesday Yankies/Phillies and Marlins/Orioles games now postponed. No positive Phillies yet, but still could happen.

Marlins season now on hold until Monday. MLB spinning it as this was something they expected might happen and their plan included how to deal with it...but no details on that plan and plan apparently keeps changing from Marlins will move home game to Baltimore on Tuesday....we mean Wednesday...maybe resume in Miami next Monday...what? Miami mayor wants Marlins to quarantine for 14 days before returning...maybe Marlins will only play on the road...as per our plan.

Phillies haven't played since Sunday, first game back they have to face Gerrit Cole....
Jake Arrieta pictching for the first time in about a year after going out with bone spurs last season.

Cubs have had a great first 9 games. 3 series, 3 winning series (1 game of what was supposed to be a 4 game series against the Reds got rained out- Cubs took 2 of 3 of the games played though). Playing kind of like last year until they fell apart in the last month though- scoring a lot of runs, starting pitching good, defense good, but all but 1 relief pitcher terrible. Highly doubt next weekend series at St. Louis will happen as scheduled.

7 inning games are pretty strange, they do the 7th inning stretch in the 5th.

Phillies - Yankees double header in Philly with the first game having the Yankees as the home team to make up for the game missed in NY yesterday due to the storm.

MartyS (Gromit)

Arrrrrrgh, Phillies bullpen sucks.  Almost blew an 11-3 lead in the first game in the 7th, then lose the game in the 7th in the second game.  Starters in both games were great through 6.

MartyS (Gromit)

Aaron Nola had less than 90 pitches after the 8th with the Phillies up 13 to 1, Nola has never had a complete game and easily could have had one tonight, but Girardi pulls him and the bullpen gives up 7 runs in the 9th.  When you are up by 12 runs your closer should never have to start loosening up!

Girardi says it was because he was afraid of Nola getting hurt, what BS...

Don't think I've ever seen the Phillies get a full cycle of home runs, a grand slam, a 3 run, a 2 run, and a couple singles.

ihavemyreasons

Cubs bad bullpen and calling minor leaguers up to pitch in double header games has caught up them over the last week and a half. Still in 1st place, but falling quickly. Won't be in first if the have another week and a half like this. A couple of big names whose contracts are up after this year also aren't doing anything to earn extensions. But I don't think anyone will be offered big contracts this coming off season.

MartyS (Gromit)

On Jackie Robinson day Chadwick Boseman dies?  Must be 2020...

After playing like crap last week the Phillies are playing really well this week.

MartyS (Gromit)

How in the world do you rip off a fingernail putting on your pants?

Crazy pitchers.....

MartyS (Gromit)

WTF, Pivetta is piching OK for the Red Sox?  And the guy we got in trade has been a complete disaster, every time he comes in it's either a home run or a walk and a home run....  Workman was supposed to be an upgrade for the bullpen but it's been a massive downgrade.  Mathematically I think the Phillies still have a chance at the playoffs but it doesn't seem like it's going to happen.

ihavemyreasons

Cubs not looking great over the last couple of weeks but finally wrapped up a playoff spot last night with a win over the White Sox and likely will win the division. Not tyat winning division means much this year since over half the league makes the playoffs. Also not thrilled with the first round being only 3 games, but if the Cubs lose in the first round at least I have football to fall back on- not that college football is any less weird than the MLB season was this year.

ihavemyreasons

Yep...as feared Cubss got swept in first round. Don't see them making any huge moves this off season so will be mostly same team next year. And who knows what next season will look like. With the uncertainty of any return to normal, I still don't see any mega-deals happening by any teams which will make for interesting labor agreement negotiations.
