I'm saying exactly what I posted . . . not what you misunderstand (or imagine) me to have said.

Looks like Rise of Skywalker is going to limp across $1B worldwide this week.  I wonder if will be so successful as to outearn Joker.

Again: zero evidence that her harrassment was worse than average, only that it's gotten way, way more coverage than average (as does everything else the press thinks might salvage TLJ).

WTF would "the press" care about 'salvaging' The Last Jedi (as if it needed it) what would they have to gain?

Kunedog has proven time and time again they aren't interested in reality. They have an agenda and an axe to grind. There's no point trying to get through.

Because they're invested in the agenda TLJ tried to push, and not happy that Disney is openly (maybe even desperately) distancing ROS from it.

There's no need to dodge a baseless accusation.  You just pulled a "So you're saying" as if people can't go read my posts themselves.

Alright then, let's put agendas aside and steer the thread back to reality.  Here, I'll start:

The reality is that Last Jedi showed naked contempt for the OT while discarding the plot hooks from TFA and leaving none for ROS, severing both ends of its own story.  It was like a masterclass of the absolute worst, comically insane mistakes a sequel can make, particularly the middle film of a sequel trilogy.

The damage to the Star Wars brand was immediate, severe, and long-lasting.  The consequent box office results across multiple movies have been right in front of us ever since . . . but sure, I'm the one ignoring reality.

Sigh, look, Kunedog, dude you're always entitled to your opinion. However, I get the feeling that you're engaging in some seriously overblown hyperbole. As a result I feel you're not really open to discussing this at all. When you say that the last Jedi has contempt for the original trilogy I honestly have no idea what you are talking about man.

Episode 7 echoes previous Star Wars movies, as per tradition.  - Fans: This is too much like Star Wars!
Episode 8 subverts expectations - fans: This doesn't feel enough like Star Wars and seems to alienate the fans!
Episode 9 caters to the fans as hard as it possibly can - Fans: SIGH. No!

Seriously though, minus the adjectives Kunedog is right and yet I still loved ROS.

And each one takes in over a billion at the box office (ROS will probably go over a billion this week).

So many articles out there about how disappointing the box office is, as if it should be making 5 billion by now or something.

Seems people have expectations that have no basis in history.  If you look at the box office trends of all 3 trilogies this latest one is following the same trend as the first 2, 1st movie does the most, second and third movies each draw about half as much.
