"Poorly written and unpopular" is not a race (or sex).

While that's true, Kelly Marie Tran had to quit Twitter because of the racist and sexist attacks she was getting from fanboys.

We don't know why she left, and I haven't seen any evidence that the harrassment she got was noticeably worse than most any other celebrity in a popular series (yes, I've seen the dozens of overblown headlines from agenda-laden outlets, who have a history of portraying criticism as harrassment).

If Rian Johnson wanted to do that, he should have had Rey and Ben as allies (even hesitant ones) at the end of his movie.

This exactly.  Every single movie in this trilogy follows the pattern of "Tease Rey going dark side (preferably in the trailer!), but keep her pinned to the light side.  It isn't even "Always redeem her in the end to restore the status quo," because she never does anything evil or grossly irresponsible in the first place.

Rian's movie did nothing more than the other two to move toward grey jedi.  I and plenty of others thought Kylo (in the throne room) was offering Rey peace and a new order in the galaxy, dissolving the Resistance and the First Order.  But Rey immediately reacts as if he's telling her he's going to just continue slaughtering her friends with the First Order fleet, and that interpretation is apparently correct.  Kylo offered her nothing and the scene amounts to nothing.

Some of you don't seem to understand how fundamentally different a character Rey is from Luke or Annakin.  It's tough to even imagine her sacrificing anything substantial, like losing a limb or suffering any mental trauma (e.g. catatonia or shock from Snoke's torture) that takes more than a minute or two to recover from.

She must've gone to the same training school as Jack Bauer.

This popped into my head so had to make it, kind of surprised I couldn't find one already out there:

Allegedly, JJ hates the final film. According to "sources" who don't want to be blacklisted for all eternity, Disney meddled constantly to please fans and re-edited it AFTER JJ thought it was done. Supposedly he was surprised by the movie when it hit theaters.

Pretty sure that is made up.  Because they had a short deadline they were editing the movie as they filmed it, so he knew exactly what was in the final version because he helped edit the thing every day.  He may or may not like the final product he made but he couldn't have been surprised by it.

I'm saying that it was changed AFTER his final version. No idea if it's true, but Disney is the absolute worst, so it's totally possible in my eyes.

Here's what I read.

That reddit post was debunked weeks ago, I didn't save any of the links to the sites that went through it and pointed out the stuff that was impossible or wrong.  But the biggest thing is that all those changes would have taken an editing team a long time to do, so there just wasn't enough time to do all that stuff since JJ and his team didn't finalize the movie until close to the release date.

Edit: I did find this, so JJ himself said in an interview at the end of November that he just did the final cut and the new running time was 2:21, and that is the running time we got in theaters less than a month later.

Again: zero evidence that her harrassment was worse than average, only that it's gotten way, way more coverage than average (as does everything else the press thinks might salvage TLJ).

Midnight's Edge also cast doubt on that reddit post about the JJ cut; they have their own inside source(s) and they've been fairly accurate with previous leaks (especially for ROS):

given how vehement your reactions have been, at this point i think it's safe to assume that you sent at least one tweet telling her she should kill herself.

Then you should get in touch with a few media outlets . . . judging by their past standards, your assumption's probably enough to fuel a dozen or so articles.

Kunedog, I humbly suggest you reassess your position on that particular issue.
