Disney Plus opening day jitters.

Tried to watch some stuff on Disney+ this morning and not a single movie would start, did manage to start a few TV episodes, Kim Possible and Phineas And Ferb.  Couldn't even get into the lists for some of the movie franchises.

And the error messages are very telling, they all are blaming the user, saying your internet is too slow so check it and try again, as if there was no possibility that the Disney+ servers were the problem....

Seems like they were not prepared for the volume, this was 8am eastern so if they don't get more capacity during the day this evening it's going to be fully crashed...

So I'd say if you are going to start your 7 day free trial probably best to wait at least a few days, hopefully they will have it working by the weekend, I really want to see what the Star Wars movies look like in 4K HDR...

The Lurker

Yikes, though if someone can tell me if they have the infamous Goliath Chronicles portion of Gargoyles that would be appreciated.

goflyblind

are 7-day trials available outside of trumplandia?

I just logged into the website from work and was able to get to all the stuff available, didn't try watching anything.

I did go to the Gargoyles page and they list 3 seasons, 13 episodes of Goliath Chronicles are shown.

I'm more bothered by the Simpsons aspect ratio thing.  I feel like if it goes unfixed, then I don't care enough to subscribe.

MartyS (Gromit)

It's baffling why they did that with The Simpsons, I watched some episodes of older live action TV shows and they were 4:3.

I  haven't watched any Simpsons in a long time so it had no impact on my decision to sign up.

The Lurker

Apparently, they're based on the FXX versions.

Pak-Man

Yeah, FXX has used those annoyingly-cropped episodes for years. At some point, there was word that users would be able to pick between the 4:3 and the "full screen" versions, but it looks like that didn't make it to launch day.

"We could also tilt the screen away from you and poke you in the eye or watch it as it was meant to be seen.*

* The latter will be added when we can get to it."

Also, apparently a lot of shows our out of order.  Like, the new Ducktales, which is heavily serialized, is airing in a random order that is neither production nor broadcast order.  So much so that the show's executive producer is warning fans about it.

"When they opened Disneyland in 1956, nothing worked. The Pirates Of The Caribbean ate the tourists."
I think I got that quote right.
