I learned that if you break quarantine you are either a hobbit, an android, a douche or all of those.

Imper1um

Rattrap007

Bill has no retained memories of a certain TV series...

There is a shower in the studio

Kevin does a fantastic Randy Newman (for the love of god Kev do more of them!)

Tyrant

I learned that, as a woman, it might be better to have too much of an ass than not enough of one.

I also learned that John Hurt may be the palest human being on the planet.

Imper1um

I learned that right after a Face Hugger comes off of a guy's face, you should be having breakfast with him.

Also, no one should be having a reaction if an alien pops out of a guy's chest, except if you can have snot coming out of BOTH nostrils like a waterfall.

CM916

I learned that beard maintenance is an art form.

Wiseblood

I learned you can apparently kill people with rolled up porn magazines.

Lemming Howard

Cotton panties are no less mighty than leather panties.
And I'm worse than Hitler.

Darth Geek

I learned that spaceships of the future will always carry cattle prods on deep space missions.

Also, he says that the cattle prod won't damge it unless it has thinner skin than humans. So is their plan to use this thing to piss it off?

MartyS (Gromit)

I learned that a scary and dark movie can be made to look completely silly by professional riffers.

I'd love to see them do Aliens, that's one of the few movies I thought was genuinely frightening, of course seeing it in a packed theater on opening weekend does add to the fear factor, when I saw Alien there were only a handful of people in the theater.

I learned that the riff pros should stick to what they know best: making fun of movies that deserve being made fun of, and shelve projects like Alien, The Two Towers and The Sixth Sense, which are beyond their developed comedic style. Keep it simple, keep it real and above all, keep 'em laughing.  8)

Are you kidding?

You don't have to buy the riff if you like the movie too much....

I was laughing throughout the Alien and 2 Towers riffs, I'll get around to The 6th Sense eventually.

Comedy only works if you are open to it, so I guess if you think a movie is too good to be riffed then the jokes will not seem funny to you.  But I must say, movies are entertainment, to take them so seriously that you wouldn't be open to laughing at them is defeating the purpose.  Of course there are exceptions, movies that are somewhere between entertainment and documentary...

That's partly correct, Gromit. I have been a fan since 1990 and own the entire MST collection of episodes, all Film Crew discs and all Rifftrax releases. I am by no means an authority on the topic, but I think I have a reasonable idea on what movie genre works and which do not. Personally I feel that what doesn't work is ANY film that deals with serious subject matter; these types of films should be off limits for the RT experience. Why? Because it's simply not funny material to poke fun at.

Humor is totally subjective and determined by the beholder. I respect your stance and am not trying to sway you or anyone else. I simply saying that I feel there is a line to what is funny and not funny with motion pictures, and some of the selections lately have crossed that line (Saw, TTT, The Sixth Sense). I'll continue to buy RT because I am a fan, but it's been disappointing as of late and I hope the trend to riff war movies or a child combating his inner demons passes soon. Surely I can't be the only person who feels this way  ???

I would agree with the second half of that point, but disagree that the 3 movies you mentioned are in that category.  One is pure science fiction/monster movie, the next is fantasy, and the 3rd is supernatural.    A movie like Witness is where I would put the line.

The war movies they have done lately have been all fantasy, not to be taken seriously.  300 was about as true to history as a road runner cartoon.

I am curious to see how they did with the 6th sense, that's the only one I'm not sure of, Unbreakable would have been my choice for an M. Shamalama movie...

There has been a slight trend to more "dark" movies lately, and I do hope they get back to more movies in the "stupid" category.

Thanks for not bashing me in your response. I too, hope the same thing.  :)
