You want to know something I have learned about biologics? If it has skin, it can't be too thick, otherwise the creature cannot move. The creature cloverfield seems to move fairly well so I can only conclude that its skin isn't that thick.  I've also learned that if you cannot destroy it with nuclear weapons, power drills work wonders.
