Just listened to the Mike Nelson interview on something awful and I gotta say I take back every thing I said. (except the Troll 2 part)  He seems to indicate that Troll 2 will be done someday but for now they are building the product.  So I am really looking forward to the next one.

Right, so one of the first riffs on The Phantom Menace (a kids' movie, lest we forget) is "I bet C3PO has a boner for her", and then goes on to discuss Jar Jar's junk in punishing detail, but for The Lord of the Frickin' Rings Mike and Kevin are going to go all cutesy-poo on us? I call foul!

I'd hate to think Mike and Kevin are censoring themselves just to reach a wider audience. Surely the potential for absolute filth in this Rifftrax with it's capering fairys and goblins is too good to miss?

Absolutely. Thanksgiving should be filled with gay innuendos and potty humor. If they're going to be riffing something to watch over the Thanksgiving holidays, it should contain as many Gandalf Child-Molestation jokes as they can cram in. :^)

But isn't "Good" subjective? Doesn't "good" depend on what specific aspect you're talking about? Can any movie truly be "good" on all levels.  I don't think it can be.  You can always find one aspect (cheesy acting and lines in the Matrix) that isn't as "good" as it could be.  However, I don't think Mike and the gang are spiteful enough to just be looking for flaws to tear down great films.

My main point in this thread wasn't about whether "good" is subjective. It was about riffing movies that you like. I've already promised on another thread not to revisit the issue of whether one can objectively evaluate a movie as good or not, so I won't do it here. Write to me privately if you want to hear my view on that question. I'm also not going to continue to clutter the board with repetitive back-and-forths on whether it is good to riff movies that you like, or whether any movie can be riffed, or whether I should "get a sense of humor" about my favorite movies. I made all of my points and answered these questions on a thread in the Feedback forum. Look it up. If you still have questions about my position, I'd be happy to address them privately. If you don't want to rewrite your post, simply copy and paste it into an email and I'll write you back privately.
