Torgo's pizza,

I read the Troll 2 clues, but I was wondering why that was put in one of the clues.  Aside from the Harry Potter guesses (which were way off), I don't understand having concrete clues that pointed to Troll 2.  Why do that?  We had 50 to 60 members beating their brains out trying to figure out the next Trax, but the Troll clues really threw a lot of people off.

I am not unpset or anything, but that was a real red herring that messed us up for at least 20 or so pages.

Just curious.

It's cool. We knew that would cause some controversy. But think of it this way - we wanted the quotes to be both obvious AND vague. Do you think we'd give you such a giveaway clue as to quote directly the movie that's being riffed? I think that's too easy even for us.

We kept it vague enough so that, if you googled it, then you would be thrown off. But if you just read the quotes in a puzzle context, it was more or less telling all you puzzle solvers out there that, you think you're near the end, but you have a lot more work ahead of you.

Next time we'll try to keep it more vague and maybe not use movie quotes, if they're going to throw you off that much.

Pak-Man

Naw. Keep us guessing! Make us follow red herrings all over the web! Mess with our heads! Many of us have professed to be adventure gamers. We love that stuff, even as we curse it. :^)

...the original theatrical release, and the rereleased theatrical release which is a double-sided disc.

Out of interest, what's the difference between the two? Why could they fit it on one disc back then and now two?

The new set is actually both the theatrical and extended on one disc, and the extended editions where always 2 'sides'.

You guys do whatever you think will make for a more fun game.  It must be a kick for you guys to have 60 members all on at the same time completely stumped.

If it were up to me, I would want to know what the next 2 or 3 trax are ahead of time, that instant gratification thing.......but, I think the majority of the board (myself included) enjoyed playing the game.  I think it does serve the forum well to have people checking constantly for the next track, so the way you guys are doing is probably better then just having a TV Guide type of schedule of when the next trax is.  I will just bill Mike for my Rogaine bill after I pulled all of my hair out yesterday.   ;D

No, I think your entire team of Admins and Mods do a great job (I know how hard it is, being an Administrator myself for a popular site).

Thanks Mr. Pizza,

I'd rather watch Mike tear apart a good movie than suffer through a bad one.

The difference here is purely taste.

There is a large contingent of us that like to watch bad movies, even by themselves, for entertainment.
We riff them aloud or in our heads, so naturally when MST3K came along, and now Rifftrax, it is our heaven!

I like to see both good and bad movies riffed, but I also like to just sit down and watch an Ed Wood film on it's own merits.

I think there is where the whole Troll 2 vs LOTR debate lies.
Grapes? I hate grapes, I can't stand grapes. I loathe grapes. All kinds of grapes. I hate green grapes and I hate purple grapes. I hate grapes with seeds, I hate grapes without seeds. I hate them peeled and nonpeeled. I hate them in bunches, one at a time and in small groups of twos and threes.

Dont forget, it is the Theatrical Version

This hurts, since I think I own every rifftrax AND legend film release with Mike's Commentary but...

I may have to pass, I only own the extended editions.  And to be honest, I'm not really comfortable with movies I love like the Matrix and LOTR being riffed on.

Just my $.02

Remember, this is not MST3K where B movies were torn apart.

I enjoy Mike and others taking on the big budget film.

AvestheFox

same..

as I stated once before.. I think Tolkien would be smiling on the fact that Jackson's rendition is getting the Riff treatment

torgosPizza

From what I have seen (haven't watched the whole thing yet - it's still hard for me to allocate a 3-hour block for the movie these days) ... but it seems to be a more lighthearted riffing this time around. Mike did say that he enjoyed the movie, and I think Kevin did as well. The trailer seems to have given a good feel for the riffs this time around .. more good-natured ribbing and not just tearing it apart Jar-Jar style.

Hey do we know the file size yet? Will this be the Rifftrax that forces me to get a bigger MP3 player?

Dude, like you need an excuse to upgrade!  With a measly 128 megabyte flash drive, I'd be scowering the dregs for a reason!
If this rifftrak doesn't convince you, nothing will!

;)

Pak-Man

Not saying I don't WANT a reason. Just wanting to know in advance if this is it. :^)

I also don't enjoy seeing good movies being riffed, especially ones that MN allegedly likes himself. I don't mind if we disagree on whether The Matrix is a good movie. That's a difference of opinion. But when you start riffing movies that you yourself like, that's a totally different story. To say that LOTR is a riff-worthy movie, in the same general category as Roadhouse, Crossroads, XXX, Cocktail, etc., is to me a disturbing idea. Rifftrax may become more popular by cracking jokes about LOTR, but that doesn't mean it is becoming a better product or doing the right thing. As we MST3K and MN fans are well aware, popularity does not necessarily equal goodness and integrity. It seems that Rifftrax should change its slogan to: "ALL movies have it coming!" For, there seems to be no movie it is unwilling to pick apart.

I've purchased every Rifftrax except The Matrix, and even though I don't especially care for LOTR, I also won't be buying it as a matter of principle. I don't want to encourage MN to riff movies that he mostly likes.

I am a fan of both FOTR and The Matrix......but I have to tell you that the riffing of these films are cool with me.  Look at it this way, it is a whole new way to enjoy the films you have probably seen a few hundred times or so.  Just have a little sense of humor about these films, and you will probably still enjoy the Trax.
