Another legend gone.

And a fun song from 20 years ago by the great band Stump:

I'm sad. He was one of my favorite actors of all time. Hollywood gets suckier and suckier with each passing day as these living legends pass on one by one.

He came into my record store I ran in Miami, Fla once. Unfortunately he came in when I wasn't there and to make matters worse the 18 year old employee who actually helped him didn't even know who he was. I only knew he came in because I was doing my deposit for the night and came across his check he wrote.  That would have been cool to meet him.

He sent my dad an autographed photograph of him and his wife thanking my dad for being a lifetime member of the NRA. I thought it was awesome.

He is seriously like the coolest guy ever. This saddens me greatly...excuse me while I go and watch the Ten Commandments. This guy was a monster actor, and a very good guy.

The Planet of the Apes box set was one of the first dvd purchases I made when I got my first DVD player and I remember watching Ben Hur in middle school.  I haven't seen anywhere near all of Heston's movies but from what I've seen, I really enjoyed him.  I just looked over his IMDB page and I was really surprised how long his list of films was.  Sadly this will be an actor that I'll have to get to know after the fact.

I'm actually shedding tears as I'm reading over the news stories. The man was beyond being just a movie star- he was an amazing human being. There are no actors like him left- no one else compares (save MAYBE Sean Connery). I know he was suffering with alzheimers... it's good that he's shed that now.

Think the next bunch of DVDs I buy will be Omega Man, Planet of the Apes, and my favorite Heston flick- A Touch of Evil. Already own Ben Hur and El Cid- think I'll watch them tomorrow. Pour out a glass of libation in his honor.

He was a legend.

Also, the only good part in Wayne's World 2.

Married 64 years, according to one report I saw -- how's that for a movie star?? Quite a legacy. God bless him. RIP.

Charlton Heston was in some great, great, films - The Big Country, Ben-Hur, 55 Days at Peking, Planet of the Apes, Soylent Green... He seemed like he only did these giant movies, but perhaps the movies he made were giant because he was in them? RIP.

Tripe

Yes terribly sad. He was in a huge number of spectacular movies.

Am I a bad person when the first thing I thought when I heard the news was "Well, they can finally take his gun now."
