Joel & Mike should do a Riff... together!

There, I said it. What's never happened before should happen. Deep down I've always felt like they hated each other since the split, and that's not what I want to feel. Isn't it true Mike and Joel have never, despite being hosts and head writers of the same show, riffed a movie... together... at the same time ? I think it would be a good move for CT. For one, to show there's no hard feelings, and two, I hate saying it but they are in bad shape. What if if all of it was a spur of the moment thing. How long does it take to put a commentary track together if Mike can do it alone in 2 weeks, and there's 5 of them. And not just Joel, it'd be amazing to have Frank and Trace do a guest Rifftrax too. And Trace and Bill with Mike, it's Twilight Zone material.

Brillant!

I can't imagine why nobody has suggested this before.

First of all, who says Mike is doing it alone? Second and probably related to first, Rifftraax has Legend Films behind it, whereas Cinematic Titanic is completely run and financed by Joel and company. Third, it's five people who live in 3 different states. And fourth, a lot more work is necessary for taping Cinematic Titanic than for recording a Rifftrax.

Honestly, I wish Cinematic Titanic would come out more frequently, but it's very unfair to compare them to Rifftrax's release schedule.

Wow, logic and reasoning, well thought out too.  Who are you and what are you doing on the internet?   ;D

Seriously, I've said many times I'd like to see this too, but I see it happening a bit further into the future.

Yeah im sure it will happen, Joel has said before there are no quarrels between him and Mike and he would love to do a riff with him after he gets the ball rolling on Cinematic Titanic.  It's still in the process of coming together so just be patient and you will be rewarded  ;D

That is not what Joel said at all......the only accurate part was that he did say there was no quarrel with Mike.  Joel said the idea of him riffing with Mike on a rifftrax was like "Fantasy Riffing".

EDIT:  Here is the exact question and answer from Joel:
1. I'd like to ask Joel if he's open to the occasional "crossover" between CT and Rifftrax (including himself!).

Joel sez: Callipygias, anything is possible. But I have to say, it feels a little like you're playing fantasy riffball here. Not that that's bad, interesting ideas spring from such notions. For the time being, I'm mostly interested in getting the word out about what we're doing at Cinematic Titanic-– we've only done one show and are still in development mode. Adding and subtracting people at this point would feel counterproductive.

Alright, i had thought i had read it in some interview Joel had given.  My bad.

I can still wish and hope that they will do one together. i always figured it would eventually happen at some point

Joel chose Mike as his MST replacement, so I doubt there are any hard feelings between the two.

Joel guesting on a Rifftrax, and Mike guesting on CT would seem a natural step.

I'm still crossing my fingers for the wrestling-style feud I predicted and even Mike hinted at.   ;D  Attempts at "sabotage" on eachother's projects, sudden "run-in" attacks, culminating in a huge cross-over project where they riff competitively.

Yeah, a "feud riff" would be funny.

Probably no chairshots though...

Doctor Who?

Yeah a Benny/Allen style fake fight would be a great running gag.

I don't know, the image of a chairshot in CT-style silhouette suddenly seems hilarious to me.

I'd love to have the movie in the Cinematic Titanic theater stop in the middle and melt, a la gremlins.  Then you hear Mike cackling like a mad man and running off screen.

The inverse could work too, just pick a movie for a rifftrax that had a particularily boring section and all of a sudden microphones stop working and the CT guys are heard in the booth.  It could be hilarious.

Even if you got one of the CT guys to do a full riff like Mary Jo did, the others could do a cameo at the end admonishing the crossover.  The possibilities are endless, although I bet they'd have to be worked out pretty far in advance.  The CT production time has to be long.  Not nearly as quick a turn around as RT.

Just my thoughts.

Even if it never happens, I think Mike and Joel are aware of the fanboyish squees and hyperventilation that would happen should the too be on the same project.

Callipygias

Every time I see that name I read it as Calliope Gas  :D
