Maybe, but I think it was more likely just clue to prime us for thinking about Troll 2.

I'd say its pretty darn close in quality (a little newer mind you). And thats a good thing, Pod People is one of my favorite episodes.

the closest movie to Troll 2 from the MST library as far as silliness is Hobgoblins.

The popcorn being thrown from off-camera is a true treasure to behold.
