He'd be good in ambushes too. Imagine if, while struggling through the Arabian desert, the surviving soldiers had seen a lone Mountain Dew machine perched atop a sand dune. Who among them could resist?

Cult, yes. Bay cameo- only if it's to sacrifice him.

Lol.  I meant have Bay cameo Mountain Dewatron... maybe even a speaking part!

Ironically, Bay was the cg model that Megatron flicked into the car.

There were a few parts in this movie that actually made me laugh in a good way, and that was one of them.

Considering Bay's approch, as well as the complete commercial surrender of the franchise, it is not inconcievable that we'll see such a scene in the sequel.

"What a break, guys! I found a functional Soda Fountain right out here in the desert!"
"And it's stocked with crisp, refreshing, and not as bad as everybody says it is Mountain Dew!"
A few seconds later, they're as dead as true Punk.

One thought, though- In the original Transformers, they tended to mimic the vehicles that best matched their alien forms in function and shape. If he went to another planet and decided to mimic one of their vending machines, would he still be full of MD, or would it turn into alien soda?

You know, I was wondering how Dewatron feels about the fact that his main weapons aren't explosive, sharp or armor piercing. Do you think he could freeze the cans before he shot them out? 12 ounces of aluminum with frozen contents is definitely enough to knock someone senseless.

Junkyard

Really, though, what was the deal with all the neo-transformers being homicidal? Were they just scared, lashing out? That's what I got from Dewatron, but I imagine he really gave the part more thought than Bay ever did.

Well, the general theory is that all technology in the Bayformers universe more advanced than cotton gins and water wheels is derived directly from frozen Megatron, so it's all inherently evil. That's another thing I thought was stupid... cars? We couldn't have invented cars without back-engineering an alien robot? Couldn't we have just confined it to the microchip?

Dewatron could have been traumatized, leading to his random aggression. Ever since he was born people have been pulling soda cans out of what could be any of his orifices.

Junkyard

I don't think that's the case. Assumably, all the TFs are made of the same stuff, it's what's in their sparks that counts. And I don't think Bay was thinking, "Technology is evil" when he used that line, (I suppose we can blame the scriptwriter, in fact,) he was just making the obligitory, "If there are aliens, that's how we got all our tech" thing.

Didn't say it was a good theory.  :D

I think we've all seen this movie enough times that we deserve to have our cars turned into transformers. Sam did nothing to deserve something so awesome.

Ortega

you guys are missing Dewatron's Sidekick:  Xboxatron!

it's a microsoft product so *all* xbox models are evil, i'd say Boxatron should be classified as the "Sociopathic System"
We want a Mac Rifftrax player, NOW!, no more delays, no more vaporware!

Shoot.  I don't want just a freakin' transforming car, I want a Veritech fighter.

New Macross stuff:

Ye old and good Macross:

The Metallica package option depends on my mood.

EDIT:  You know ironically I might be as pissed as some of the people here with Transformers if they mess up the upcoming Robotech movie.

Junkyard

Psh... Boxatron has a long way to go before he can be considered on par with Dewatron. MDT conveys the enthousiasm, fear, and confusion of sudden conception without even getting a line. Xboxatron waves his arms around as if to say, "Grrr, I'm a ROBOT!" Yeah.

Darth Geek

I loved the Mountain Dew "Dewatron" transformer! I wish they made a toy of him (especially one that would treally fire little cans). What was that picture, Junkyard? Is that just fanmade?

I totally agree. Probably the only time one of their intended jokes was successful. And it was the only time one of the "jokes" was appropriate to the character.
