But Bay erred big time by not including 'The Touch' on the soundtrack!

"You've got the touch...YOU'VE GOT THE POWA!"

If I had my way, I'd re-cut that movie to include the entire original film's soundtrack.  Right down to the hair metal version of the main theme and Weird Al's Dare to be Stupid!   ;D

But how would you decide where to put 'Dare to be Stupid'? It would be appropriate for just about any scene with Sam opening his mouth to speak. We might end up with that song playing through about half the film, or more.

Hmm, my first inclination would be to put it on a chase scene, since that was the original's use of it.  So when Shia's running from Barricade and flailing all over the place, knocking the chick off her moped etc.

PERFECT adaptation of the book though.

Well, seeing as how a LOT of movies I like are popular targets on these boards(Star Wars, Raiders, 300, Spider-Man to name a few), I'm probably the last person to offer an opinion.

You should read the FAQ's.  Rifftrax is not MST3k 2.0   They don't make fun of bad movies necessarily.  They make fun of any movies they feel they can successfully make fun of.  Don't get so excited if a movie you like has a Rifftrax for it.  The Raiders of the Lost Ark one is one of my favorites, and I love the movie.  Roll with it.

I'm not specifically talking about the Riffs.

People gripe about movies, it's human/geek nature.  Everyone's got an opinion and yours is no better or worse than anyone else's here.  The key is just don't let it tick you off that people will disagree with you.

I agree with you. I guess I was letting my Transformers experience with NOHC(who's my best friend in the world by the way) get in the way of that.

See, the day before my TF visit, I had two teeth pulled, one of them was surgically removed. I crashed out on the couch, in a good amount of pain for the rest of the day. Well, he called the next morning saying the TF Riff was online, and even though I was still experiencing some pain, I agreed to bring my DVD down so we could check it out. I could tell that he wasn't liking the movie, but it got to the point where he wasn't even laughing at the Riff, and I almost suggested we just cut it off early. After it was over, he said "you're probably not gonna like this..", and then proceeded to just tear this movie to shreds, very similar to the post in this thread. But he sounded like he was getting angrier the more he ripped it, as if watching it were the equivalent to being spit in the face. And here I am listening to it, someone who liked the movie and bought the Target-exclusive two disc set, and I'm feeling like a complete moron. I felt like I was so wrong in buying it that I should have known better. Well, I STILL like the movie and I do NOT regret buying the DVD, but if I had known how TF  was gonna personally offend him like that, I never would've brought it down.

And I'm not mad at him for feeling that way, I just feel embarassed.

I about died laughing during that scene from "Boogie Nights".    It must have been hard for someone who can actually sing (not Sinantra by any means, but he can sign) to sounds so off key.    I bet they had to shoot that scene a dozen times from everyone busting up.

Getting back to the thread title, after sitting through this horror, my question is -- how could anyone NOT pick on it?  :o :gouge: How could anyone even stand to watch it unriffed??

I dunno dude, you seemed pretty irritated that day I asked you to come down and watch Battlefield Earth for a Riffing, lol.  There was pain in your eyes,  I saw it...it was like "please..god, don't make me watch this again..."

Man, this subject just won't die, will it?

I'm going to respectfully play devil's advocate here. There are mainly three reasons I've noticed why this movie is being so heavily picked on:

1) As TF fans, we're overly sensitive to negative vibes in this movie's direction. At first I thought the hatred was unusually concentrated too, until I searched the forums and saw that there's just as much disdain towards the Star Wars prequels. I'm going to be fair and admit that I'll notice a negative comment about TFs way sooner than I'll notice one about any other franchise I have less/no interest in. I'm not suggesting that anyone who loved the movie is in the same boat as me, but it's something to consider.

BUT:

2) Those who hated the movie are very quick to point this out at every single opening possible. They certainly have the right to say whatever they want about it, but it does get a little exhausting to watch the same point already established by the same person get repeated over and over again. A negative opinion will get old a lot faster than a positive one on any forum regarding any subject, not just this one. I'm not saying they should stop posting anything they want to, but I'm pointing out that their text will start turning into "blah blah blah blah"s after a while to those of us who disagree and the point will get missed or ignored.

3) Michael Bay. Now I'm not bashing the guy personally (I've already done that), but everyone on this forum has to admit that his reputation precedes him. Just like saying the name Uwe Boll automatically brings to mind crap, Michael Bay will also bring to mind crap in most cases. Some people on this forum have an intense dislike of this man and everything he's done and for some, the equation of Bay + TFs = good movie just doesn't pan out. Therefore, this movie is doomed to be debated about from the get go.

Peace and harmony can be had by addressing these three causes.

1) We TF fans need to chill out. It's just a movie. There are so many other things to worry about in the world without worrying about this.
2) People who hated the movie need to chill out. It's just a movie. If you see a pro-TF movie thread, maybe it's best to just avoid it. Or make your own anti-TF movie thread.
3) Bay will always exist. We should all just accept it and move on. Maybe some day he'll do a movie that's so universally awesome that it'll change his reputation for the better for the rest of his career.

He's discovered the secret of immortality??  :speechless: Come to think of it, there was something about that movie that hinted at a pact with the devil . . . >:D
