Need a copy of Photoshop? Get one for free. No catch.

Yes, it's a 7-10 year old version and "Adobe recommends you not use it" because apparently the Earth will implode or something, but hey. Free.

If anyone saw this and was excited I would also suggest a look at GIMP, it's free, it's open source, and a lot of people, myself included, prefer it to Photo Shop.

Bob

I use Photoshop Elements 2.0.........that came free with a printer I got LOOOONG ago.

I use Photoshop, though I did recently buy Manga Studio, which I have heard nothing but good things about. Haven't had a chance to play around with it yet.

Amazon has some pretty good deals on Kindle editions of graphic novels. I just bought several for $3.99-5.99 apiece. Remember: There are Kindle apps for almost every platform, so you DO NOT have to own a Kindle.

The first two Batwoman collections (not counting Elegy, which I REALLY want, and isn't on sale), the first Hawkeye collection (read that goddamn book already, people!), All-Star Superman, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (first two volumes), Identity Crisis, Batman: Earth One, and Hush (I had to buy a $140 textbook, so I bought a $200 Amazon card, and had a little credit left over).

Nice haul!

I have a Marvel Unlimited subscription, but I haven't checked out Hawkeye yet. I'm reading Spider-man from the beginning! (Still at the point where he only has one title - It's gonna get harder later...)

I've never gotten into comic books but have always been slightly interested, any suggestion for something mature, with interesting, dramatic, and competent story writing that takes precedence over action? If it helps I'm really into the biologic sciences and semi realistic subject matter.

Anything from the Hernandez brothers (Love and Rockets) is aces. Peter Bagge's work is also terrific. Matt Wagner's Grendel is a fantastic, sprawling sci-fi epic. Anything written by Gail Simone, Greg Rucka or Matt Fraction is worth your time.

Oh, and The Walking Dead is just terrific. To dismiss it as simply being "about zombies" is a BIG mistake.

Well, Alan Moore is considered one of the best writers in comics, perhaps From Hell, his meticulously researched theory on who Jack the Ripper was (If you saw the movie based on this book, wipe it from your memory), though my favourite work of his is The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (Again, ignore the movie).

I would also recommend Blankets, which is an autobiographical story.

Saga is an amazing series at the moment. As is The Massive.

My all time favourite graphic novel is Vampire Loves by Joann Sfar. And if you like that, The Rabbi's Cat, Isaac the Pirate and Gus & His Gang. All of those blew me away, and really changed the comics I was making at the time.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll look into those.
