Lets breakdown who gets paid by the $15.94.

---------
Joel
Trace
Josh
Frank
Mary Jo

EzTakes
DVD Wagon
Whoever has to get paid for the rights to the movie
Whoever owns that big ass studio they use.
The Crew to run said studio
The director and producer of the episode: (oozing blood = Tim Ford and Stoney Sharp)
MrDeath

And there are probably more people and costs involved. Like it or not Cinematic Titanic and MST3K and RiffTrax is a niche product, so you really can't compare prices to mainstream movies/DVD releases that are going to sell more units in one day than CT is going to sell all year.

It's just a matter of personal priorities I guess. If you want it, you'll pay for it. I don't think $15 is price-prohibitive. I spend way more than that on pizza and beer in an evening and have nothing left to show for it except tight pants.

You know, I used to pay 31 cents for a gallon of gas in the seventies. I never would have thought I'd be paying $2.80 a gallon (local prices may vary).

Everything has a price, it's just a matter of what you want to spend your money on. There is no right or wrong. It's your choice.

Think about how much you would be spending per CT if it used the Rifftrax model and you bought the movie on dvd separately then downloaded the CT content.  It's not that much more expensive.  Those who rent dvds for Rifftrax might see a big difference in price, but for those of us that buy often as possible so we can keep watching it doesn't seem like it should be that big a deal price-wise.

So, speaking of renting, anybody know if these CT movies will be rentable?

MrTorso

Only if a company buys copies to have for rental.

Darth Geek

Has anybody recieved theirs yet? I'm waiting for a review. Has one been posted?

If it sound good, I'd be willing to pay for it to see (since I can't rent it first).

The more riffing the better, I think it great (and this comes from a guy solidly on the Mike side of the Mike vs. Joel debate). I just want to give them a chance. But at $15, they only get one from me.

BathTub

The price is prohibitive for people, I mean after currency conversion and extra shipping cost it's going to be 30 dollars for me (for a burnt DVD!). But I will certain dig into my pocket for the first few, but I really hope that sales justify a drop in price, or they get a distribution deal that allows them to do 'proper' DVD releases that make to to general online retailers like amazon and such.

RoninFox

Ah, didn't take overseas shipping into account there, that does make a major difference.    Another thing they'll likely be flooded with complaints over, here's hoping they listen.

Overseas people will have to use a proxy server to download it when that becomes available because their service doesn't allow foreigners except for maybe Canadians.

It is not their service but rather the rights holder (Joel in this case) not having the distribution rights in foreign markets. I can bet you that Brain of Blood has at least a dozen foreign rights holders for different territories.
