Film Crew was originally made for Rhino.  Apparently (I just have second hand info on this) Mallon stepped in and said it was too much like MST3K, and that Rhino couldn't release both.  Since MST3K is a good seller for Rhino they didn't have much of a choice and pulled the plug.  That's why a couple years past between TFC being shot and it being released by another company.

What i still don't get is why they decided to delay the original DVD when they intended to release the live performance anyway.

I mean, they wanted to make the first movie better by rerecording it... using some of the things that worked well during the live show at ILM. I can understand wanting to make the best show that you can. But since they're completely retooling their first DVD by using elements from the live show... are they not going to release the live show like they originally intended to? Is the first DVD going to be basically the same as the ILM performance now, just recorded in a studio? And if they're going to release the live performance eventually... was it worth delaying The Oozing Skull at all?

Personally, i would have liked to get the first DVD on time and then compare it to their live performance at ILM. I expect them to get better with each release anyway. Oh well, at least it's coming out at all, and will be on it's way to all of us very soon!

PS- This means that there's some unreleased "pilot episode" out there somewhere now. How appropriate that after visiting Lucas Ranch, they decided to go back and tinker with something that they were already done with. Hopefully they didn't add a CGI Jabba.

A Special Thanks to PSL for placing my order yesterday since I could not while in Mexico..

I personally am not too thrilled about the $15.94 cost for a DVD WithOut a Case either, BUT I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt based solely on the reputations of the 5 other MST3k Stars ( well, 4 of the 5; Don't know a whole lot about Weinstein other that the KTMA episodes, but still..).
It'll be there waiting when I get home from vacation 

Maybe some of you DVD cover pros can create a DVD cover for a regular and/or slimline dvd case (hint hint)

Yeah, I'm with BEERxTaco that there's a bit too much complaining about this before anyone's seen the finished product, but the one exception is the whole US only thing.  That's definitely worth bitching about.
