It's available on Amazon....  I don't see why Amazon would have the full rights to downloads of it though...

Well, I was also one of the people who were willing to give them the benefit of the doubt at first, but I'm pretty much giving CT a pass at this point.

$16 for a burned disc is a complete ripoff. Frankly, I wouldn't pay $16 for a physical DVD that I bought in the store, either... this kind of entertainment (especially untested) just isn't worth that much to me personally.

Whether or not these delays and problems were directly CT's fault is irrelevant... the result is that it still reflects very badly on them as a new venture that they were delayed, and that they don't have the capabilities for purchase they originally suggested they would, that there are mass delays in shipping, and they can't offer the downloads. Even if 90% of that is because of the original owner of the movie rights giving them problems, or shortcomings on behalf of the distributor, those are still decisions that CT was involved in, and it just adds to the general feeling of unpreparedness I feel when I think about the venture.

You can call me a cynical economist if you like, but I yam what I yam... and I think I'll give them a pass unless / until the price drops to a reasonable level, I can download it and burn it myself (since they aren't offering actual DVDs in professional cases), and I've had a chance to sit and watch an entire episode from a friend who is more willing to shell out money for something that might or might not suck than I am.

And hey, I just want to say clearly... I'm not trying to dissuade anyone else from taking part, I'm just saying I don't think this is my bag, baby.

Agreed.  Hell... I didn't pay that much for my two-disc set of Blade Runner... and that's one of my favorite movies of all time.

...

They did offer a free preview of the film and the whole Cinematic Titanic experience, so you don't really have to go into your purchase completely blind.

Although that didn't help me much, since the new version of Quicktime conflicts with Affect Effects... which means that i couldn't actually view the legit version of the preview. Thankfully some kind soul already put it up on YouTube, so i got to check it out. And it looks like fun!

From what I have been able to put together from reading various things.......

They recorded the movie then after playing the live gig at "LucasLand", they realized they could record it again and add some extra jokes and change some things that shook out during the live gig.   This was the reason for the delay...... they had to record it again.   I for one, appreciate them going to the extra time and expense to make it better.

The rights they negoitated, to their surprise, was only for the DVD and not for downloads.    I guess that is something that comes with changing technologies that they probably never anticipated.    That is why we have the DVD-R option only for now.    I take EZ TAKE made the "only ship to US" decision as a lot of companies only ship to their country of origin.   I believe the next release (probably they can do one a month?) will not have this issue as "rights negoiting lessons learned" takes over.

And yes, if Mallon did put the death nail in BOTH the Film Crew and MST3K 2.0, then my hatred for him has grown.

I just hate when Politics and Red Tape put a damper on a good thing..

I'll keep an interest in this in between my drunken stupors..

He killed the Film Crew too?  and man...  as much fun as CT looks like, I still miss the bots....

Also, as far as previews go, they did promise us a holiday special (though they really only have 3 days left...)..  What happened to our inside man?

Brak

I was wondering about that too. Maybe they just thought that the trailer was the "special" gift

It seems they really need someone like Legend Films to help them with the distribution side of things...

Not if they're going to send them to divx   :speechless:

Rifftrax uses DIVX, Legend release the Rifftrax complete DVDs.  I think it could be a good match, though I don't know if it would be some sort of conflict of interests.

I know, I couldn't resist though.... But I think that CT would probably be better off for physical DVDs by distributing through Legend, but I still like the idea of downloading to DVD ISO's through eztakes, though the price could be lowered a couple $$'s...  Ideally they would be picked up by IFC or G4 or something though and we could watch them for free(ish)
