I don't know if even the most diehard fans are willing to sit through the Holiday Special, it just hurts too bad.

true, but I think George needs to let go of this one in order to start his healing not to mention the healing of others who had to watch it and the prequels

If LucasFilms is involved does that mean that they might be willing to release the the star wars holiday special?

If only so it can be rightfully riffed?

Lucas has chillaxed a bit with the Star Wars parodies, what with Robot Chicken and Family Guy... and for what possible reason would there be a private Lucasfilm party for them... if the movie riffed was not a Lucas film? And with Joel saying how terrible it is... please let it be...

While I won't rule out Life Day being riffed, it might also be a certain film about a humanoid duck from an another dimension...

Good point. He let some stinkers fly even before his brain broke and he made the prequels, huh?

I theorize that the SWHS is what started his self destructive film making

...

I've sent out my first round of emails to my Lucasfilm friends. Hopefully somebody will let me know what's going on. I mean, assuming that it's not all top secret and they even know what's going~

Wow.  This is a lot more exciting than Jim Mallon's MST3K 2.0.

Looks like Mike proved there's still good money to be had from the MST3K fan base, and now the rest of the former cast is jumping on the bandwagon.  And since these are highly talented people capable of generating genuinely funny material, I'm very glad they decided to jump.

Do we need to start up the whole Joel vs. Mike thing again?

I hope not, but it seems inevitable.  Personally, I like both.

Jim Mallon's MST3K 2.0

Mallon's project sounds more like a pre-MST3K 1.0 Beta

Seriously, with Rifftrax we have a solid base with solid performers, and now with this Joel project it sounds like we'll have an equally solid base and alternative riff source. Let's face it, the community has an huge appetite for riffs and now there will be another valid source. How can it be a bad thing? We don't want Mike getting burned out from working too hard now do we?

Joel or Mike, I always loved em both... same with Josh and Kevin, Trace and Bill...

He has the shiny keys to that shiny BBI vault, tho... we don't want to anger him.

Like I posted over at the MST board...

I keep getting this image of Paul Chaplin over at MST3k.com HQ reading about Cinematic Titanic and heading towards the door to join Joel & friends -- only to find the all doors impenetrably locked. Then Jim Mallon steps out like Saruman and chains Paul to a computer desk and says "You cannot leave. Write. WRIIITE!! HAHAHAHAHA!!!!"

Of course, that's a semi-quasi-pseudo-joke.

It's nice to see that everyone is getting back into the game.  It would be nice to see a joint feature between Rifftrax and CinematicTitanic but if not then I at least hope they won't try to screw with each other.  Mike's  been doing well with modern, popular movies, I think there's room for Joel to riff on bad, obsurce films.  Plus they probably aren't going to have the same services anyway.  Since Joel had to get the rights to the movie and is trying to get a film deal it will probably be like the Film Crew dvds.  Plus we know how gadgety Joel is and he probably wants to show off some new creations.  I'm looking forward to seeing what becomes of CinematicTitanic and, as long as there isn't any fighting between groups, I'll support them both.  Heck, I'm even looking forward to The 'Bots series.  Hopefully that will be an amusing little diversion.

Chaos

What is up with all of the CT images being so phallic? Is there a message there? ;)
