I got this movie a couple days ago... I really liked it. I just didn't like how long it took until the movie finally got going. I also didn't like how the characters got all emotional and weepy towards the end of the film, it seemed really unbalanced to me when that happened.

Well, that's the point of the film. It's described as a "Romantic Zombie Comedy" aka "rom-zom-com". It's like Army of Darkness and Return of the Living Dead meets a Richard Cutis film and Trainspotting.

If you haven't already, check out Hot Fuzz. It's made by the same people that made Shaun, its the funniest movie I've seen all year.

Rose: I'm sorry?
The Ood: Apologies. I said: I hope you enjoy your meal.

I thought you said 'decapitations' of american culture, which is actually pretty true of the film also.

Personally I loved those elements, this is bar none my favorite zombie movie.  The slow build was hilarious, because you could see all the signs of the zombie uprising in the background, practically constantly, but the "normal" characters are completely oblivious to it, being somewhat zombie like themselves until shocked into action.  As for the emotional points toward the end, I think it was all very real, at least as real as you can get with a horror/comedy/action type movie.  I like the variety a movie like this can give you, it doesn't have to be a joke a minute, or constant action, it can really get into a character's head and heart and show what makes them tick.

Exactly!  Slow?  This movie is genius.  Just go watch the zombie movie it is winking at.

Skip Hot Fuzz, or at least hold off until you've had a chance to check out Spaced... their television series. It's one of the best TV shows that i've seen in awhile. And there are only two seasons, so there isn't much to catch up on really. You'll even get to see the episode that kind of inspired them to actually make Shaun Of The Dead!

Rude is right!  Spaced is an excellent show, and Hot Fuzz is not for the newly initiated into British television, British comedy, or dry wit in general.

It's over and done.  You have to buy the dvd set, and you might have to get the European version.  Either that or check online.

Meh. I loved Shaun. I watched Hot Fuzz, waiting for it to get funny.
It never did.

I hear a lot of people make that complaint, or say that they liked HF but Shaun was funnier. I think it's a little unfair to compare the movies, since they're so different. Shaun is meant to be a comedy, while HF is really supposed to be a British action movie styled after American blockbusters. HF is action first and comedy second, which is way it seems less funny than Shaun. Personally, I loved both movies and Spaced. Pretty much I love anything that Edgar, Simon, and Nick do, I was just sad that Jessica Stevenson wasn't in HF  :'(

Oh that's right I forgot about those. I loved Big Train but then it was done at least partially by Linehan and Mathews who did Father Ted.

And if you like Big Train check out Black Books also by Linehan and Mathews and starring Dylan Moran who plays David in Shaun of the Dead.

Yeah but keep in mind that Dylan Moran in Black Books is nothing like the annoying, intestines losing guy in Shaun. He's just a drunken Irish guy that likes to torture poor Bill Bailey.

All of these are things I'm going to have to check up on, suddenly it seems even luckier that I recently met a cute girl who just moved from England.   :)
