Movies you walked out of the theaters/turned off the player on

We all have watched a lot of movies, including myself. I have watched some really good ones and some really terrible ones in my life. But there are a few that were so terrible that I literally walked out the theaters on or turned off my DVD player because it was all sorts of bad. Two that stick out on my mind the most was Jason X and the remake of the Time Machine. They were just so bad that I couldn't stay in the movies to watch. I'm sure that all of you have some interesting stories about this so discuss.

Mondovino

I used to sell wine, I understand wine and I'm interested in viniculture generally. While I was selling countless numbers of customers would tell me "Oh you have to see Mondovino it's great!" Well they also told me that about Sideways which I found passable but nothing like it was hyped to be and so I held off on watching it.

So a couple of months ago I put it on my Netflix queue and got it in the mail. An oh it is not good. I can only imagine the people reccomending it to me had drunk a couple of cases before watching it. Meandering editing, piss poor camera work and a terrible treatment on what is an interestinc topic; the global monopolies certain wine making houses have and what effect that has on the character of wines in a given country.

If you go to the page at Netflix my review is currently the 5th or 6th customer review (apparently I'm 95% similar to myself  :D)

I hardly ever turn off a movie, although sometimes I wish I would have.  I like to give movies a chance to redeem themselves even if I'm not enjoying it.  But there have been a few.

Recently, the great-looking, but impossible to follow Renaissance.  It wasn't bad, it was just so convoluted that by halfway through the movie I had no idea who anyone was or what was going on.  And I tried to watch it twice, thinking I simply wasn't paying close enough attention the first time.  Never got more than an hour into it both times.

Others that come to mind....Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai, MirrorMask, and Pulse (Japanese version).
Heated Seats iRiffs: Touched by an Angel | Marked for Death | Runaway | Heated Shorts (shorts collection)

Junkyard

This one I'm ashamed to admit: Godzilla's Revenge.
Holy crap, what was going on there? This was back when Toho Studios, low on budget, was struggling to compete with television and the much more popular Ultraman.  It starred Minya, the horrible mutated Son of Godzilla, and he could TALK. In a big, dumb voice, too. His co-star was another Kenny, just some kid with an annoying voice in short shorts. And they showed him from several angles that gave you an unwelcomed and frankly creepy look at his butt. Was it a pedophile behind the camera? I don't know.
Godzilla himself only played a secondary role, and mostly appeared only in old stock clips from other movies. In fact, I'd say 60 persent of the movie was taken from older Godzilla films, which I could name as I watched.

I just couldn't make it all the way through.

I also walked out on Johnny English. Part of it was just my mood at the time, I think.

BathTub

I've never walked out of a theater. I did stop watching and delete some crazy film, but I forget the name it was a some modern samurai flick, some monks had something insanely chained down stolen, another guy was wandering around with a little girl, but when the first big fight happened and it just sucked so much, they weren't even touching just leaping around, I was so annoyed with it that I just stopped and deleted it.

Chaos

I walked out of the theatre on Jurassic Park 2. There was another one that my wife and I went to see and it was horribly stupid and boring, so we walked out, but I can't even remember which movie it was. We WISH we had walked out on E-Ragon, but sadly we stuck around to see if it could redeem itself with the "big battle" that we knew would inevitably come at the end (what a disappointment).

Movies that I have downloaded, there are quite a lot that I have not watched all the way through and deleted (I refuse to rent a movie that I know ahead of time is probably going to be shite - if I watch it and like it, I'll go down to Wal-Mart and pony up the $10 to buy it, otherwise... their fault for making a shitty movie and wasting my time). Some notable ones that come to mind: Troy, Gantz (anime series), House of the Flying Daggers, Curse of the Golden Flower, Iron Monkey, and some weird-ass "this Thai fighter is better than Jet Li" movie that made no sense whatsoever (the plot was about hunting down some guy that poisoned a village's well)... I can't remember the name of that one either, it was so bad. I just remember that all the reviews kept talking about how the "star" of the movie was so much better than Jet Li.

Why do so many kung fu movies suck? Maybe that's a different topic...

My friend and I walked out of a free screening of Dracula Dead and Loving It. 20 minutes in and not a single laugh to be heard in the theater.Time to go. I couldn't make it more than 10 - 15 minutes into the DVD for Epic Movie. We walked out of Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever.

...

I turned off plenty of DVDs and films on TV... too many to count. But it takes a lot for me to actually walk out of a theater. In fact, i've only ever done it once: Nothing But Trouble.

If falling asleep counts, then I fell asleep during Batman and Robin at the theater.  Actually both me and my dad did.

Oh god I've done that with a few films at the DIA. Ann has this compulsion to see films that some sort of celestial examiner with give her bonus points for watching not because she enjoys them but because she thinks they're improving or something.

The Rules of the Game I think was the last one to send me to the land of nod.

Well, I'm half Jewish so I don't have the genetics to walk out of a movie I payed $$ to see.  ;D However, of all the movies I wished I had walked out on, it was Along Came Polly. I didn't pay for that one, but I was with my in-laws and couldn't.

I'm monumentally stubborn, (Norwegian DNA doesn't allow money to be wasted) but I have walked out of at least 3 in my movie watching 'career':

Godzilla, the crappy Roland and Emmerich remake...I made it most of the way through until the stupid raptor/mini-godzilla scene.  At that point I was "That's it, I'm done."

McHale's Navy:  Oh God this one hurt, so much.  I just wanted Tom Arnold to DIE!  Nothing about it was good.

Pan's Labyrinth:  The gore got to me...the slit face really triggered me off.  At that point, I didn't CARE how the movie ended, I just wanted out.

Same here for Epic Movie... usually I laugh really hard even at some of the dumbest comedies ever made, but this one didn't incite even a smile from me. Everything was predictable, stale, tastelessly done, just stupid, like they didn't even try. I would rather watch Manos 50 times in a row than watch Epic Movie for 10 minutes. Took it out and played Hot Fuzz instead... wow, what a difference!

Around age 14, I went with some other kids to a showing of Medicine Man (Sean Connery!) for a friend's birthday. Looking back, I have no idea why it got picked for a kid's birthday party, and I was so bored and confused by the plot that I walked into the lobby to play video games.

After a few minutes of playing I remember turning to look, and there was the birthday boy, standing there looking incensed that I wasn't watching the movie. I never got the sense that he himself liked the movie, it was more that he was insulted that I had the balls to walk out on his -- HIS!! -- birthday movie. I shrugged, walked back in, watched the rest of the movie (which made even less sense now that i'd missed a few crucial scenes), and then went home wondering what the hell Sean Connery was doing in that film.

We never really got along much after that. (The birthday boy, I mean, not Sean Connery.)

BBQ Platypus

The remake of Flight of the Phoenix.  Although I technically didn't turn off the DVD player, I left the room to do other things about 12 minutes into it.  The original was a bona fide classic.  The remake was completely, hideously, 100% Grade F-for-fuck-awful.
