Seriously dude you have a ton o' stuff! I also noticed in your wishlist you have GWAR's "Live in Antarctica" as Gotta Have Status. Might I suggest Amazon.com's 12.99 deal on the DVD. Pretty sweet and I think I'll be picking it up myself, before they come around to San Diego. It'll be my third time seeing them in the last couple years.

Don't get me started on GWAR! I have seen them 11 times and my band (and I was the promoter) opened up for Dave Brockie's (oderus) side project DBX.

Here are some pics from the last show:

Yes, I know how INCREDIBLY dorky it is that I am wearing a "PC MAGAZINE" shirt, but I have been saving all my GWAR shirts to hang in my work office and that was only white shirt I had left!

Musical numbers and skits in RiffTrax: they can work... or CAN they? Discuss!

aneel

Sounds like a bad idea to me.  This isn't MST3K and Mike and the guys aren't in character, so host segments really would not work.  On top of that, Rifftrax are being sold as audio commentary tracks, and as such that is what I'm paying for.  I don't wish to buy host segments.

Now, for ad/promo material, musical numbers and skits wouldn't be a bad idea.  It would be a creative way to advertise new Rifftrax releases, especially if these skits were cleverly posted on YouTube/Google Video.  As it stands now, Rifftrax's publicity has primarily been built through media coverage by Slashdot and niche news sites as well as by MST3K fans spreading the word.  So naturally if skits could help promote Rifftrax, that would be great.

Personally I really don't understand why there aren't any video clips/skits on the site. Sure it may take some effort but it wouldn't cost much to do using a dv cam and some simple editing software. No need to be elaborate. If anything continuing Mike's working in the office videos on this site would be great.

Like I said no need to be crazy about it, maybe one five minute video a week or with each rifftrax release or announcement.

Get Mike and Kevin to try one, and then we'll find out...  8)

Uncle Rufus

Ok I guess I will step in here and end this topic once and for all.

1) No RiffTrax is not MST3K 2.0 and Legend Films has no ties to MST3K.
2) BUT RiffTrax was given birth by Legend Films and Mike Nelson (The Mastermind behind MST3K) with the direct intention of appealing to the MST3K audience.  Hence the goal of RiffTrax is to try to directly appeal to ALL MST3K fans including Diet Kolos and yes even Tarantulas.
3) While MST3K fans may have differing options regarding what they personally like and dislike regarding the RiffTrax content and what we do, unless you work for Legend Films and RiffTrax it is unfair to make generalizations on what RiffTrax is or is not.  Sorry Tarantulas, I don?t even get to make that call (Even the grand Uncle Rufus has his master.)   ;)
4) We will continue to try to make ALL RiffTrax and MST3K fans happy and we are constantly looking for new fun things we can provide all of you.
5) Unfortunately Diet Kolos has decided to leave the forum and that is very unfortunate.   We hope she will return and we hope that everyone on the forum has a pleasant experience.
