Has anyone even considered that none of the black actors/actresses have told anyone they think their roles in Bay films are indicative of racism? Or that Bay has no problem getting African Americans to be in his movies and has never been blacklisted in Hollywood as a racist? Please. He puts non-black characters in as many precarious, stereotypical and humorous situations as black ones. I think because they just happen to be black makes us notice it more.
We've been hit over the head with racial accusations (both deserved and not deserved) over the years so often now that I think anyone who isn't a minority  is more paranoid about racism in movies than the actual minorities are.
I think people forget what racism is, it's unequal treatment of one race as opposed to another. I think we've all been guilty of that at one time or another, whether we did it consciously or sub-consciously. That's why I say making a big deal about a black person dying is racist. Once you stop seeing the differences between black people and white people or whatever, then it's no longer racism.

Even if you notice a pattern of the same behavior over and over?
Especially if you notice a pattern of the same behavior over and over.

Oh forums are all full of surprises my friend. I found that out when I met my first internet date.

In fact, I would suggest the fact that a "black" robot died makes it actually even less racist because Jazz actually sacrificed his life fighting the main baddie. Even for a robot, that takes balls. I would say questioning his sacrifice... is racist(That's what a close black friend of mine told me anyway).

I... had to laugh at that.

The black robot died in a maybe 5 second sequence, with the camera too far away to even see his face. He gets up to Megatron, says something steriotypical, and gets casually torn in half with a snide reply by his killer. He quickly is tossed aside and the movie resumes. The scene was just used to show what a badass Megatron was.
And, heck, it wouldn't make sense to get rid of Bumblebee, Optimus Prime could never die so quickly, and Ratchet had a specific and nessesary role, but... maybe it could have been Ironhide? The tacked on character they came up with after they decided they didn't want a female autobot? The guy was space filler, yet he survived.

But really, it's the shrieking fat black kid that sets me off. He had no purpose in the film. The hot hacker HAD to go find this panicky black hacker to hack this thing? Seriously? Why not just have hot hacker figure it out? What did he do that she couldn't have just done, with no change to the plot?

No, let's just say it: "Michael Bay thinks minorities are intrinsically funny."

No, It showed what a racist Megatron was. Perhaps I should put this another way, I mean how about Quentin Tarantino? In his movies somebody of another race is always getting killed: Pulp Fiction, Death Proof, Kill Bill, Jackie Brown. Nobody makes a big deal about that. Would you make a big deal if Spike Lee made a string of movies where white people died for no reason? Of course you wouldn't! Why? Well, the answer you can figure out for yourself I hope, but if you can't then if I may be so bold I would say it's because of self-perceived inequality... if that term makes any sense at all.

I agree with Junkyard. Michael Bay doesn't put enough thought into his movies for him to consider that the scene might have been racist.

MSTJedi

Yeah, I'd say as long as things are exploding and you can't tell what the hell is going on, Bay is happy.

Sideswipe

Kevin is right.  Michael Bay is a toddler

MSTJedi

He and George Lucas would get a long so well, I think.

BBQ Platypus

Well, if he can be linked to Spielberg...

Hey, let's not go nuts here. See unlike Lucas, people don't come up to Bay and tell him "you are a genius with billions of dollars, therefore when it comes to writing and directing you don't need to put forth any effort whatsoever anymore!"

Junkyard

Oh Krishna, I should not have read this before bed. The idea that Bay and Lucas could concievably work together on some film is either gonna keep me up or give me nightmares.

"Oh no, Lucas and Bay are making a Dragonlance film! And for some reason I'm naked in public!"
