I'm saddened by the fact that I now own all of the prequels but none of the original trilogy.  I won't buy the originals on DVD until there's a decent release of the original theatrical cuts so I don't see it happening soon.
They are on DVD, widescreen, just not anamorphic.  It's basically a transfer of the laserdiscs, I think.  So yes, they're out on DVD, but not in a decent format.
Which is why I'm waiting.  That kind of DVD release stopped being acceptable in 1997 and it was released in 2006.  It doesn't help that Star Wars was released in that period when everyone switched to a quick-yellowing film stock so it does need some genuine restoration work that will probably never get done while Lucas is alive...

Enjoyable riff, but they went way too easily on Portman, with her enormous suckage and disastrous hair, particularly the poodle 80's perm disaster on the balcony scene.

QuoteEspecially the fact that the Jedi's don't really seem to care that the back half of their ship that just dropped off is going to kill thousands of people.

That part has always bothered me because it looks waytooclose to images of the Columbia disaster.

Wait a sec...

The only reason Anakin went to the dark side was to save what's-her-face.

But once he learned she was dead (losing the 'will to live' and all), why did he continue to serve the Emperor?

I mean, what possible reason would he have now?

And how come the Emperor just happened to have a Darth Vader outfit lying around to use on an emolated, legless ex-Jedi??

Something that bugged me after watching Episode 1 for the first time and further proven with 2 and 3, I'm sure most people have picked up on this, is the fact that eps 4, 5, and 6 seem to have a "fun" atmosphere and eps 1, 2, and 3 try way to hard to be serious, with a tragic storyline.

I guess Lucas expected Jar Jar to be the "happy" center of the movie not realizing that he had created the most satanically stupid character of his career.

I think that was put together for him, it wasn't waiting for him. They were on Coruscant so they have the supplies available.

I have no answer to why Darth would stick around after Padme died. Oh wait, I do; Lazy Writing.

Exactly what I wanted to know! How come we didn't get a "Hey, creep, this is EXACTLY WHAT YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO PREVENT WHEN I TURNED MY BACK ON EVERY BELIEF I EVER HAD FOR YOU!!"

And Yoda gave a whole speech about not mourning those who die, because they become part of the force.

So why was he looking so sad when the Jedi got whacked?

He should be 'happy' for them.

I think that was more about him feeling an unprecedented disturbance in the Force, as Obi-Wan did when Adleraan was destroyed.

Or maybe, as the guys seemed to think, he was gassy.  But if I went from a highly believable puppet to a lame cartoon, I'd be sad too.

Well what the flip does becoming one with the force mean? When we see the ghostly bodies of dead jedi walking around, is that just a collection of midichlorian-bacteria glowing in the air?

Pretty much. I always tend to come done with bronchitis whenever Yoda wants to immaterially kick it.

My wife and I thought it was just so-so, but reading thorugh the forum here I'm reminded of many great riffs. Perhaps the movie was too painful, the in-between riffs lackluster, or maybe there just weren't many good riffs towards the end of the movie. I dunno. Probably the first thing.

Best SW Riff yet. See, guys? There's lots of ways to make jokes about things in the SW Universe other than how bad the movie is. :^)

This was freaking awesome. I'm STILL laughing at the pie joke days later. The visuals it inspires are priceless.
