What, you haven't transformed into a completely different person of the same race over the course of a year? In 2006, I was 6'2" with a long face, now I'm 5'11" with a square face.

Quote from: Principal_Skin-trade on June 21, 2007, 11:00:36 AMEddie Murphy considers himself above this movie?!  Yet he was in the first Daddy Day Care, I Spy, The Adventures of Pluto Nash, Showtime, Bowfinger, Holy man and Vampire in brooklyn!!!!!! It has been so long since Eddie Murphy has been in a funny movie or funny in a movie that nobody can recall there ever being a funny Eddie Murphy movie in the entire whole of movie history.

Hey, don't knock Bowfinger. That was a great film. Holy Man was okay and I liked Vampire in Brooklyn. The rest of those films are junk, but he's done some funny stuff in-between them. I haven't written off Eddie Murphy completely yet. Starship Dave should be funny.
This iRiff will only be on sale for another few hours. Get it while it's cheap!

I just saw the Yahoo entry for Starship Dave, and it looks interesting, but I can also see this one going horribly, horribly wrong.

So, we're meant to buy that the stress of running a day-care center has made Eddie Murphy transmogrify into Cuba Gooding Jr?

I don't see why not. It's no less plausible than anything else Hollywood as spit out over the last 20 years.

Daddy Day Camp!  Starring Oscar winner Cuba Gooding Jr.  Stay tuned all the way to the end, you don't want to miss the "Directed By" credit.

Sweet merciful crap.

Saw this trailer in a theater, and I swear I was the only person not doubled over in hysterical laughter.

The movie is going to feature a touching voice over narration by Daniel Stern.... and at least two female characters named "Winnie".

Brings up an interesting issue about the subjectivity of quality dunnit? Are the people who like this movie stupid, or are we just pretentious?
Love doesn't hurt. It kills.

It's possible and likely that both are the case. I sometimes wonder whether I'm no more sophisticated or virtuous for not being able to enjoy stupid movies anymore. That said, this movie is stupid, so we shouldn't feel too bad for ridiculing it.

Minnesota

well, it looks worlds better than the first one

"buisness up front, party in the back" lol

might be an okay kids movie, probably not though

WE DO NOT APPROVE OF MULLETS OR ANY JOKES RESULTING FROM THEM. BEAR THIS IN MIND, MINNESOTA!

Sharktopus

You'd think they'd use Eddie Murphy as a litmus test. If he says no, just burn the script. Hmm... Then again, he said yes to Norbit, so maybe Daddy Day Camp will turn out to be the sleeper hit comedy of the summer. *snort*

Shinigami

So wait, what else has Fred Savage directed?  Looks like a whole bunch of Disney channel shows and ..... an episode of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia?????????
