How else could they have done the placment? You can't anger the almighty sponsors.

sarcasm_made_Easy

they were practically hitting you over the head with the dodge logo on both the seats and the front of the car, we didnt need their gay ass catch phrase inexpertly put into the middle of the film either

the hemi line made me want to throw up, then beat up the director.

See, that line made me think, "Wow. Dodge is going to make a fortune in that universe. The 2008 Dodge Fantasticar will sell like hotcakes!"

We should all write letters to the makers of Dodge Trucks and ask them when the flying cars come out, and if never, why they put that crap in FF.
And yeah, it was supposed to be this big reveal, but in the end it was like if Godzilla were to come out of the ocean with a can of Pepsi in claw in the next movie.

One of the running gags in our household is that I'm going to file frivolous lawsuits against all of the companies that use blatant examples of "false advertising" in their commercials, or product placements in movies. i.e. sueing Tide, because their commercials suggest that Tide to Go can remove a stain in 3.1 seconds, when in actuality it takes more like 10 minutes. This kind of joke (which I make at ever opportunity I get) severely irritates my wife. Which is probably about 97.9% of why I do it in the first place. ;)

I know this might be off topic considering this is more about the proposed Silver Surfer spin off movies and this thread is not, but I'm thinking since Galactus is basically the cosmos itself, and destroying him would basically destroy all reality as we know it, there is a chance to bring the big guy back, but as his normal self and not just a stormcloud. You see, I see that stormcloud as Galactus the way he "eats" planets. I was just thinking this look would be a good start for a live action Galactus in a more fleshly form:

Heh heh, love how Galactus basically smacks down everyone in the beginning of this video from the gameplay. :D

*spoilers abound if you haven't played this game all the way through.*

Particularly pay attention to the cutscenes with Galactus in them.

Oy... Part of me says, "What, you're ashamed of Galactacus?! Don't be wimps, movie makers!" but the other part of me says, "So... the embodyment of cosmic death in the universe is... a big white guy in a huge hat and a purple mini skirt?"

I'm afraid the cloud was really the best descision.

Well, in the game Ultimate Alliance, pictured above in my post, Galactus got a little bit of a makeover that looks kickass to me. They definately should use this redesign as their basis for a live action, noncloudy  Galactus.

No matter how many glowy things you add to a giant white man's hat, he's still a giant white man in a funny hat.

I consider the "cloud" to be debris kicked up from the force of nature that is Galactus and not the G-man himself. There's no evidence there isn't a giant purple man inside the cloud. I like Harry Knowles' explanation from his AICN review:

QuoteNow... Why am I not raging furious about the "giant cosmic tornado"? Well, because nobody ever refers to it as Galactus. When the Surfer is soaring up into it – when he stops... you can see something subtly mechanical... there's something behind the power. He's speaking to something.... Something we can not see. We never see the whole – of whatever is beginning to attach itself to Earth. I like to think, that had Tim Story panned on that enormous establishing space shot... you would have seen an enormous Jack Kirby machine being powered and/or operated by the version of Galactus that I like to imagine. Is that satisfying? Not particularly, but it doesn't mean it couldn't be what I want it to be.

Also, the way Galactus is portrated in the comics isn't what he "really" looks like. From Wikipedia:

QuoteAlthough Galactus is usually perceived in humanoid form, each species perceives Galactus in a form resembling its own. As a being who is both an abstract entity and a physical creature, Galactus' true form and nature are beyond the capability of mortal beings to comprehend.

I like to think the purple helmet and armor are all of Galactus' true appearance that we get an image of. The giant white dude inside (and the big G belt buckle he sported early on) are created by humanity's mass subconscious.

I didn't observe the "perception based appearence" thing in any comic I've ever read. Ever. And I've read FF books form almost every period. I'm not saying it couldn't be, I'm just saying that it may be an obscure thing. I'm willing to bet that if G turns out not to be the cloud, he'll still be pretty vauge when he's shown.
