A few weeks ago I adopted this little guy. I'm typically a dog person, but how could I pass up a cat that was already named Batman (as seen on the box behind him)?

Plastic Self-Cleaning Duck

He is pretty awesome. The people at the SPCA literally cheered when I decided to get him.

Aww I love Garter Snakes.
That's what I thought it was (that, or a black snake)..
It's under my house now so hopefully it'll stick around and feast on those Cave Crickets (or hunchback crickets) http://www.google.com/images?hl=en&q=cave+crickets&um=1&ie=UTF-8&source=univ&ei=wy5GTO2XLMT68AapsunqCA&sa=X&oi=image_result_group&ct=title&resnum=1&ved=0CCcQsAQwAA
that are all over the place under my house :P

Those are some scary looking crickets.

Don't Black Snakes have reddish markings on their bellies?

EDIT: Hmm so apparently both "Garter Snake" and "Black Snake" can refer to a whole host of different small innocuous serpents.

So we're probably right whatever we call it. :)

My brother had to put down his older beagle on Monday.  She had metastasized cancer, lots of tumors, and...was just not having a good time of it.  She was really sweet, and really beagle-y (lots of paying, lots of sniffing). He still her has her pup, who's 6, and she's buried in his backyard under an apple tree.

Pretty sad for all of us though. I hate it when dogs die.

Yeah, our dogs are on the way out, too. Hopefully not soon, but the vet's said if they have another major health issue and they have to come in for more than a general checkup, she's putting them down. But they've lived a very long 16 years, so it's not all bad.

This thread needs more:

My horse Waco a few years ago, not sure he's going to make it through this summer, this spring the pollen was pretty bad for his respiratory problems, now this heat isn't helping.  Really bad catch 22 with his breathing problems, when he's breathing hard he doesn't like to eat so it's had to get him to eat his medicine so he can breath easier...  Hope he can gain some weight back in August, he usually gets some of the weight he loses in the spring back in July and August, really need that since September is usually another hard month for him.
