Isn't Venom still technically alive?  Kurt Connors still has that sample of the symbiote...

I'm sticking with with comic book rules: no Eddie corpse + undefined alien symbiote = easy to resurrect

Well, the symbiote might be the cause of the Lizard's appearance in the 4th movie.

Possibly, but I don't see any reason to stray from the classic origin of the Lizard. Simple hubris is much better than mysterious alien ooze.

That's been done in the first and second movies, though.  I would worry about repetition.

And which Spidey movies got rave reviews?  ;)

Well, if you wanna use logic and reasoning, there's no point in arguing!  ;D

In the right hands, a Carnage movie could work, but there are so many other Spidey villains that don't suck.

I liked it, even if it was a little bloated. The best movie of the series is in there somewhere... just needs a villian and/or subplot or two trimmed away. Things were paced well enough, but there was just too much material to get through. I was getting a little bored with it towards the end... but overall it was a fun ride. I'd give it 7/10.

I liked the film, but I thought its number one problem was how much stuff it tried to fit in. To me, the black suit/Venom story really merited its own picture, and maybe had the Sandman and Harry stories done separately.

Also, while Spider-Man 2 did a terrific job of making one of the most unlikable characters in the Marvel universe (Doc Ock) sympathetic and believable, I think Raimi went back to the well one time too many, trying to do the same for Sandman. It felt very forced, as did his "connection" to Peter Parker (the worst part of the 1989 Batman movie was having The Joker kill Bruce Wayne's parents; have we learned nothing?).

And by the way, what the fuck was with Harry's butler throwing in about 25 minutes of exposition into maybe three lines of dialogue? That was totally weak.

Oh man - yeah, what was that?  Was that somebody's grampy that was like "Can I be in the movie?"  Was he in the 2nd movie?

Without a great screenwriter, (which I believe Kurosawa when he says it's the foundation of a good film) then even good actors can't carry it by themselves.

It's so much better to end a film (and franchise) wanting more than to leave the theater wishing for less.

I thought the movie was awesome. Yeah, there was a lot of stuff going on, but that's kind of how Spiderman is. He's one of the most imperfect superheroes in comics and I thought this was well represented in the movie. Crap is always happening to Parker, yet he always maintains some semblence of a good attitude and always comes out with at least a little further ahead than he started. I thought his journey to the "dark side" was hysterical. He's such a good person that he can't even do it the right way. Sort of reminded me of Superman III in that respect.

Ah....and Venom. One of my favorite Spidey villians of all time. I thought Topher had it down. I had my doubts at first, but he actually does evil pretty well. I thought Venom could have shown more tongue, but otherwise he was very well done. And what's with all the naysayers against Carnage? He's awesome!!! And the little symbiote sample left over pretty much promises a future appearance assuming there will be more movies.

As for Bruce Campbell, I often wonder what it is about the man that just screams "Awesome", even when he's in a movie for a combined total of 4 minutes. How is it that he can be the single most memorable thing about this movie, despite the fact that Venom is in it? An unsolved mystery to be sure.

Carnage = Suck

Not to be snide, but name me a good Carnage story. His concept is okay, but he's useless for storytelling purposes. The only time he's ever served a purpose was in the prison break from New Avengers. All he did well was make the Sentry cooler by comparison:

There clearly was a sarcastic winky-smiley up there.

Does anyone have an answer for this?  And it's okay if the answer is:  Veronica, stop noticing stupid shit -

Um, you mean Electro?  :D

Electro would make for a really formidable villain in a Spider-Man movie. And I personally love his wacky costume, but I wonder how they would handle it. I'm not so sure about the Vulture though.

I've made many extravagant claims in my life; NOT being a dope is not among them.   :-[
