Bad Movies that you enjoy

Ok. I have a confession to make. There are a lot of "bad movies" that I enjoy. Not in the "so stupid it's enjoyable to watch" sense either. Maybe it was from watching them at a young age or something, but I've legitimately enjoyed watching:

The Postman
Waterworld
Battlefield Earth
Patch Adams

among other movies. Of course, I wasn't aware that other people thought these movies were ridiculous until later, and I haven't seen many of them lately, so maybe my opinion on them has changed since then.

My question is, what's the one movie that you've seen that you've enjoyed but everyone else and their mother thought was crap? Because, let's face it, even the greatest elitist has one movie that's near and dear to their heart, but really, really sucks.

ah crap,  now we got to define good movie BAH

I liked Phone Booth too, there must be something wrong with us.

I do watch a lot of the Sci-Fi channel movies with odd fascination.

Not if you like it because it's bad, e.g. Plan 9 or Batman & Robin.

Colin Farrel's accent in Phone Booth is almost entertaining enough to carry the movie.

surely enjoyment = good.

Yeah, the experience was good, but the film itself was still bad. It hinges more on the viewer than the filmmaker, especially among us Riffaholics. We've made a hobby of enjoying bad movies.

sarcasm_made_Easy

yeah but really what EXACTLY was bad in phonebooth?

mrbasehart

I liked Phone Booth.  I thought Kiefer Sutherland was deliciously evil as the gunman.  He's got a great phone voice.   ;D

sarcasm_made_Easy

hell yeah he does, and his whole lets screw with this guy thing was pretty well thought out it seems.

Phone Booth's another one. I never realized people thought Phonebooth was a bad movie until I came on here. I actually really liked phonebooth. I liked the idea behind the movie, and thought it was well thought-out compared to most hollywood crud. Why do people not like it? I don't understand that. A silly accent? Okay...

It's really hard to judge what a good movie even is. I loved Sin City, for example, but when it came out, the critics blasted it, said it was just too gruesome, but it was the gruesomeness I liked. And I know lots of people agree with me on that one.

So critics not liking it makes it a bad movie? crap, that's pretty much everything in my DVD collection.  I was having a similar conversation at work during the week when we were looking at Empire's top 100 movies of all time, people seem to make a distinction between 'worthy' good movies (Goodfellas, The Day the Earth Stood Still, Shawshank Redemption, etc) and good movies that they just happen to like.  I find it strange.

I guess these would fall into this thread, although I'm not sure:

Cellular
Crank
Joy Ride
Starship Troopers
LOTS of Slasher movies
Con Air
