You can never know from a trailer, almost never as to whether a movie's going to be really good or not, but I'm at least intrigued by the title. I also really liked Luke's line of "No one's ever really gone", then the Emperor's laugh. That was cool.

I've never been let down by JJ's movies, and I seriously doubt episode 9 is going to let me down either.

BTW at this point maybe one of the mods wants to change the title of this thread from Episode 9 to Rise of a Skywalker?

I just hope it doesn't mean what I think it means.

I'm more excited about the possibility of this leading to a new Nerd Crew episode. I'm sure they got enough new material to mine today. ^_^

Trailer looked fine, I'm not nuts about the title, but maybe it'll grow on me. I'm one of those people who liked The Last Jedi and the online fandom pretends doesn't exist, so my biggest fear is they're gonna try too hard to "fix" things with this movie. Something that FAR from everyone agrees is even broken.

Even if I didn't like Episode VIII, it's a lot less jarring for them to just work with they've got instead of spending half this movie trying to rewrite the last one.
I used to have an image here, but Photobucket got cheap about remote linking. I guess I'll have to think of something witty instead. Which I will. Later. It caught me by surprise, in all honesty. It's hard to be clever on command, I mean, YOU try it. Be funny: NOW! See, tough. So, gimme a bit, 'kay?

Luke says about Rey "We've tought you all we know." Um...you trained her for like three days!

It's not like Luke got all that much training in with Yoda.

Pak-Man

All that Jedi training is like 98% electives.

Yes, and Yoda didn't give him a Jedi diploma at the end, or claim that "I've taught you all I know." Luke had to go study further on his own, apparently for years.

Another interesting thought. We established in Episode 3 that Palpatine made Anakin using the force. Would that make HIM part of the Skywalker family too? Maybe the title is referring to the Rise of Palpatine again.

NRRork

It's possible that whole "training Jedi from birth" thing had a lot less to do with building an affinity to the force and more about indoctrinating young Padawans into Jedi dogma and their creepy, sterile, monk-like existence, and just to build up the discipline to only use the force in the "right" ways.

We never REALLY saw what those kids were being taught all that time. Maybe it was twenty years of the Jedi equivalent of "We didn't evolve from no MONKEYS!"

There would also be physical training to keep their bodies healthy and make them combat proficient, but Rey already knows how to defend herself, and it's perfectly believable why she taught herself that.

One can never be sure for absolute certain, but I am absolutely certain we will not see that face again in episode 9.
