Just watched the last half of this on TV and I found it hilarious, the Monty Python's Sam Peckinpah style blood spray, the overacting, the cheezy music and sets.   Even the S&M-dream whipping thing went on so long I was laughing.

Anyone else have a similar reaction?

Hey... Who likes pudding? I sure do. Let us eat pudding as brothers.

Your pudding is false. Prepare to die.

Yeah...I don't think RiffTrax will be touching this one...as hilarious as it might actually be.

You know who makes good pudding?  Kozy Shak.  Yeah, I buy it now and again at my local QFC grocery store.

Personally, I like the Jell-o Instant pudding. It's quick, easy and fun to make! Delicious!

ScottotD

What? it's just a movie.

Yeah, that's why I didn't put this in 'Suggest a trax' because I guess Mike's religion wouldn't let him do this, also 10 Commandments would be MUCH better.

No, I use faux fur for that, not this awful carpet-like stuff.

Actually that was another way for me to just say, "To each is own."  As Scott H said, it is just a movie.  There is a difference in criticizing an adaption and the real thing.

man all this talk of pudding is makin my belly ache for some... *le sigh* i'm too lazy to go out on a saturday just to get pudding.  i also have jell-o instant pudding, but i'm too lazy to make that either...
You know it's hard enough trying to decide on which movie to see at a theater, much less trying to find someone to help pay the massive amount of money it takes just to see one these days. i mean it'd help if movies these days were actually interesting, but so far no dice on that front...

Anyone find it slightly unsettling that a Christian would watch - and praise - a snuff film about the last hours of Christ, but wouldn't watch a snuff film featuring someone else? :P (I wouldn't watch a snuff film, period.)
This iRiff will only be on sale for another few hours. Get it while it's cheap!

As a Christian, let me take a stab at answering that, though I don't know how well I'll be able to articulate it: For us, it makes a difference that (1) this actually happened (we've heard the story in the Bible and in church and via dramatic re-enactments all our lives); (2) it was bloody and horrible and awful in reality (I was very young when I first heard about what crucifixion actually entailed, and believe me, it left an impression),  and (3) this was something that Christ went through for our sakes.

In a way it's a little like the difference between watching a movie about Anne Frank (this was real and happened to an innocent girl and we need to remember it) and watching a film about a fictional person being tortured by sadistic people just for the heck of it (hey, I just feel like watching someone suffer today).

Hard to explain, like I said, but there IS a difference.

And happy Easter!

It also shows Christ's strength in accepting the punishment, and how much he was willing to sacrifice materially in order to save mankind.  I'm not a Christian, but that's what I took from the whole sequence.
