Soo.. What's the deal with this one ???
Fun in Balloon Land
Feature film · 2014

Kindergartners in gold lamé diapers, a maniac parade host, and something called The Marrying Turkey—then Santa shows up.

With Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy, Bill Corbett

It's listed as a Short but it's 55 minutes long, and it's been listed as a Pre-Order since October 30..
Why release it a month later on November 24th! :-\

It's being listed now to allow people to take advantage of "coupons" provided by the Anaconda Live show, and likely any other coupons that may be released between now and then.

The short thing is hard to nail down, but I suspect it has more to do with the content of the video rather than it's length. A recent VOD movie release, The Last Slumber Party, was about 70 minutes long but considered a feature-length release.  But this release is a "short" at 55 minutes long.  So maybe an hour is the threshold between short and feature-length riff?

Anyway, again, the early release lets you take advantage of any recent coupon codes you may have access to but would be expired by the time the release is made which, due to the subject of the video, is being released at a time closer to the Christmas season.

It's to make you appreciate Warty The Toad.  We thank thee, O' Toadeth Von Wartlington. Thy and thine appearance are swift, yet not heavy of gold is the purchasing of thee. And so on.

I hope they do more hour long shorts. Like Frank Capra's OUR MR. SUN and the original Barry Nelson CASINO ROYALE isn't quite an hour long.

Movies that length are hard to nail down, but according to The Academy Balloonland wouldn't be a short.  Their guideline for a short film: "an original motion picture that has a running time of 40 minutes or less, including all credits."

So what is the name of a movie that is longer than that, but not long enough to be a feature (I think that's 75 minutes)?

Some call it a "featurette," but others say that featurette and short mean the same thing.

According to Wikipedia:

QuoteThe Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences,[2] the American Film Institute,[3] and the British Film Institute[4] all define a feature as a film with a running time of 2400 seconds or longer Or 40 minutes.  The Centre National de la Cinématographie in France defines it as a 35 mm film longer than 1,600 metres, which is exactly 58 minutes and 29 seconds for sound films, and the Screen Actors Guild gives a minimum running time of at least 80 minutes.[5][6] Today, feature films average two hours in length;[7] with children's films typically shorter.

So according to the first criteria, anything that doesn't qualify as a short is feature length.

Obviously it's been debated a lot and isn't likely to be decided concretely.

Thanks. It must have been the SAG number that I had heard before and thought it was the standard.

I'm not terribly surprised by the " Today, feature films average two hours in length" but it is dissapointing. Most movies really don't justify that kind of running time.

What's going on with this? I got the email that it was available and, having pre-ordered it, went to download it-- only to find no download links at all. Frustrating.
