For comedy Ghostbusters has (maybe) 4 actual jokes

I just figured it out, Peter Venkman is a frumpy, desperate, pushy creeper who gets the girl.  NO WONDER HE'S BELOVED BY MRAs, HE'S THEIR IDEAL

- how I read any complaint about MST3k (or Star Wars or Ghostbusters)

I just figured it out. The only thing I have in common with this community is Rifftrax and I should stop trying to fit in or post here. I had written up a side-by-side comparison of the blocking variations of the "four in a line" classic v. reboot, the lighting choices, the signature camera moves, the humor, etc. That doesn't matter though. It would accomplish nothing here besides gaining disdain from this community. Consider this my meltdown.

I honestly don't know what you mean by this.

I'm not saying Ghostbusters is bad, I love Ghostbusters.  It's in my top 10 and maybe top 5 movies ever but it does rely on charm WAY more than it does jokes in my opinion

Let's remember you are talking about two movie trailers, one of which, given how different movie production is today is almost certainly limited in the finished scenes it had available due to it being in post production, and I still think you were wrong.

If that makes you want to quit the forum, I guess that's your business.

meh
I don't find Stratton and Varney funny.
Doesn't make me a bad person.

If you have to tell us it's a meltdown, it's not a meltdown.

I wonder if the sudden decision to re-release the original to theaters is a reaction to the bad test screenings the reboot is getting. Sony trying to make money on the franchise and keep some good will in case the new one tanks.

Pak-Man

I'm guessing it's to stoke the hype machine.

Since Sony cleaned up a 4K version for the 30th anniversary a couple years ago, it seems like a "why wouldn't we?" situation.

Someone on this thread mentioned them, and I've heard it mentioned on Twitter. So for all I know it's not true at all. But it's the announcement of the re-release that made me think the studio might be getting worried about tarnishing the brand now that they are trying to do a whole series of movies.

Johnny Unusual

Yeah, the link here went to a creepy MRA website, so I'd take that with no salt at all and not take it.  Henry88 who posted it even apologized for not checking it beforehand.

Yeah, you might want to look back at this thread. A 'mens lifestyle' site that credited a deleted reddit thread.

Was that the one from a few days ago? Yikes.
