Child appropriateness?

Kind of a time-critical question here...

I'm considering serving up this RiffTrax as a quasi-Valentine's date night tonight with my wife and our son. I haven't watched it yet; is it appropriate for our seven-year-old son? (Is there anything scarringly objectionable in either the riffs or the movie itself?)

I recall this movie being inherently ridiculous when I saw it decades ago, and the RiffTrax "can you believe this garbage?!" tone tends to take the edge off a lot of questionable movies (our boy seemed okay with the bits of "Kingdom of the Spiders" he saw), but I'd like to be safer than sorrier...

Thanks in advance!

As ridiculous as the movie is, it might be too much for a seven-year-old.  Tone wise, it's similar to Kingdom the Spiders, but there is a lot more blood.  It's incredibly fake looking "who spilled a bucket of paint in here" type blood, but there is a lot of it.

Okay; thanks so much for the warning! I'll just set him up with "Call of Duty Black Ops II" in his bedroom then.

(Just kidding... it'll probably be the 1970s "Justice League" cartoon.)

No problem.  Glad you're still going to get to enjoy it.

We watched it tonight, and -- lo -- 'twas quite amusing. I think our boy probably could've handled it (especially given how ridiculous his parents and the Riffers were finding it) but it was right on the cusp. AND we didn't have to deal with explaining any lines like, "OW! You shot me in the dick!"

Also, the riff implies that a lot of rabbits were killed in the making of the movie. I didn't think it really looked like that. But that might have been very disconcerting to a young kid. That, and so many of the characters were so blasé about killing rabbits.

According to wiki, they literally used ketchup for the blood. Rabbits love tomatoes!

A seven year old doesn't know what a dick is? Seven must be younger than I think.
