Magneto is not just a heavy lifter, he is a master multi-tasker too.  He has shown he can do several dexterous things at the same time with just his mind.

Hey, I almost forgot.  How the hell did Wolverine get new shiny claws again?

The movie takes place before Wolverine was in the Weapon X program. In fact, at the end when Stryker has him it's implied that's when he started the program.
Did anybody else think it was very distracting how much the guy playing Stryker looked like Sean William Scott? It was a little hard to take those scenes seriously when his head soldier is Stifler.

Sideswipe

I am talking about in the future after the events of the Wolverine.  After his Silver Samurai pedicure.

Oh yeah, good point. They didn't really explain that. Although it's a moot point anyway since that is yet another movie this one eliminates from continuity.

Sideswipe

Yeah, I totally would have accepted that if they only showed the claws after all the time travel.

BathTub

He already had metallic claws in the future segments.

Sideswipe

Yes, that is the point.  No one explained how they were fixed after the events of The Wolverine.

It's actually a bit gratifying to know that the X-Men film franchise has been around long enough to finally have a continuity that's just as snarled, confusing, and contradictory as an actual comic book series.
Correction: the coat hanger should be upside down.

On par with Captain America, Spider-Man 2, Iron-Man, Avengers, X2 and First Class as my favourites.

Hell, it's his own plans that seem to be his own undoing. Since had he just controlled the Sentinals remotely to go haywire and shoot into the crowd like ED-209 then Trask would have been discredited and the future would have been changed.  All he really did was PROVE TRASK RIGHT by showing how dangerous mutants were, out in the open, and on national TV.
[/spoiler]

Yeah. Exactly. I was just coming in here to make this same point.  Magneto's plan made zero sense.  And he believed Wolverine about the future or he wouldn't have tried to kill Raven.  So ... what the Hell?  What was he trying to accomplish?  Even Fry in Futurama going back to Roswell thinks that Magneto was a fucking moron.  I ... just ... don't ... understand.

Other than that, it was a great movie.  Really enjoyed it.

I also didn't really believe their reasoning behind releasing Magneto at all anyway. If you are going back to try to convince Mystique to change her ways, maybe don't have the guy who convinced her to become a terrorist in the first place! Honestly, I thought Mystique's reaction to Magneto's conversations with her were really well done and believable. You can tell she really is influenced by this guy, but she's just confused as hell about why he is (kind of) telling her different now. Especially when Magneto goes full maniacal at the end and starts doing essentially what she was trying to do.

Um, is it that hard to just assume they re-coated them with adamantium?

Yeah, I expect the bone claws to grow back. And I can believe that Professor X would be willing to pony up for getting them re-coated.
And even if it wasn't that, it's what, 10 years between The Wolverine and Days of Future Past? Hell, in the comics he'd have lost and gained all the adamantium five times.

I also have to say, despite my complaints earlier about the violence in this movie, it was VERY satisfying to see Storm get mercilessly killed!
