I've never seen the show and am only vaguely aware of it as a Martin Landau vehicle.

It was a vehicle for Landau and his wife Barbara Bain.  And all reports were they were insufferable, demanding prema donnas on set.

It's got terrible science for a science fiction show, the premise of the moon wandering through space is pretty terrible.  But it had great props, the Eagle is a great looking ship, great sets, and the stories were more along the lines of old school science fiction/fantacy.  And the supporting characters were mostly pretty good.

It does have some really stupid episodes, giant space brain comes to mind.

Putting the engine pod together was an adventure...

Getting there slowly:

Do you spend a ton of time masking? I would think that brushwork would be more time-efficient?

Masking does take a while, but it gives nice clean corners that are hard to get brushing on paint.  Of course if you mess up and spray too much paint with the airbrush you end up with the same problem, paint flowing between pieces of masking tape.  If done correctly each layer from the airbrush is dry about as soon as it hits the surface, no liquid to flow.

Arrrrggggg, I noticed in the pictures the landing gear pods were put on wrong, I double checked them and still grabbed the wrong ones when gluing.  So, had to slice off one of those half sphere things on the pod on the back end, and add one to the pod on the front.  Luckily there are several extras of those on the sprues, and the one I cut off came off really clean so only a little sanding needed.

Ready for the final pass with white paint.

Can you spot the other model in the picture?  An old one I have been using for years to test paint.

Got one of those ventless  alcohol fireplaces, it was one of the few items that looked interesting in the catalog of stuff that I could pick from for my 30 year anniversary of working at the university.

Can't buy the fuel for the thing at any store, and online they want almost as much for a quart of it as going to the liquor store and getting some cheap vodka...  I just put some rubbing alcohol in it and it seems to work the same.

I love the door frames in your house.

That is one of the nice things about a 77 year old house.  ;D

Marty I love forum posts like that.  Please show us more.  That's the Space 1999 ship right?  Pretty damn dope.  I also want to see the environs step by step through your house, leading to a bedroom with a possessed doll in a rocking chair.

We have engines and thrusters, just the landing gear to build, each one will take several hours, each has about 10 parts and a spring, so the gear does bounce just like on the show when they did closeups of the eagle landing.  But all those parts need to be glued, seams filled, sanded, painted.....

After the gear there are decals and I need to figure out some way of making it look dirty, really not sure how I'm going to do that.

Rub some real mars dust onto it.  Don't be a cheapskate.  You live in a HOUSE.
