MartyS (Gromit)

This is a pretty amazing full size R2D2 made out of various paper products (cardboard, poster board, newspaper), putty, and paint.
The guy said he had been working on it since July.

Wasn't really sure where to put this. But this $20 commemorative silver Superman coin from Franklin Mint:

His face looks more like TVs Frank than Superman.

Thanks to @raruler for noticing this.

So did any of the ThinkGeek fake products for April Fools end up getting really made this year?

I mentioned this in the Kickstarter thread, but it is relevant here too. A Kickstarter for a pretty cool plush Krampus toy in the vein of My Pet Monster:

They even did an awesome 80s style commercial for it:

Reminds me so much of My Pet Monster. Anyone remember that?
Yeah, it's deliberately done similar to that. Complete with breakaway chains.

It's incredibly well done.  But $80 for one (or $150 for two) is a bit steep.  Some of the extras that can be purchased look cool (and are less pricey), but from the way it was written up it appears you can only buy the extras if you buy the doll first.  I might consider the coffee cup otherwise.

Remember when toys were cheap? Hell, in the mid 90's when they started releasing Star Wars figures again, they were still fairly cheap, like five bucks each. I don't remember how much those old figures were back in the early 1980's but they couldn't have been less than about 3 dollars or so.

Some of the collectibles as gifts along with this Kickstarter look pretty cool:

Funny thing?  There's still 29 days to go (I believe these generally run only 30 days), and they've already received pledges for almost 1.5 MILLION dollars already (needs only $2 million to get approved, but additional millions gets extra episodes).

OMG that could be sweet!!!! But another $500,000... that's steep, at least for me anyway.

Something just occurred to me. I wonder if the MST3K reboot is going to make the price of fully built bots on ebay go up or down? For years I've wanted a Crow and Tom, and have held back because they're a bit out of my price range that I can justify for novelty purchases. They're usually about $300 each. But if interest spikes because of the show, I'd hate to wait too long and suddenly they're $500 each or more.
