I think the remakes of Invasion of the Body Snatchers, The Thing, King King, The Ring, Cape Fear,  Bourne Identity, Ocean's 11,  The Man Who Knew Too Much, Scarface, The Fly and 12 Monkeys better than the originals.  There's a few that are equals of the film their based on, what would be the best remake ever?

- how I read any complaint about MST3k (or Star Wars or Ghostbusters)

Fun With Dick and Jane is way better than the original.
Little Shop of Horrors is 10,000 times better than the original.

Maltese Falcon is a better remake, as is His Girl Friday.

I agree with Oceans 11. The remake was done really well. Movie a had great inner charm, lots of character,  wittyness and just the right touch of humor.

Fav scene was when Danny and Rusty are in a bar (Rusty is eating as usual) and Danny Says: "Ten oughta do it, don't you think? You think we need one more? You think we need one more. All right, we'll get one more. "

I don't know if I'd call it the BEST, but high up on the list of my favorite remakes is The Hills Have Eyes.

We better lock this thread in case the jury in the "Klonus vs The Island" accidentally reads it.

The US version of "Insomnia" was pretty darned good (so was the original).

Of course, all movies really are remakes of Thomas Edison's "The Great Train Robbery".........

i thought they were all remakes of that one guys snap shots of the horse running?

what about the epic "man getting hit in the gut with a cannon ball"?  truly all movies draw upon its suble yet classic use of action and drama

The Island's crimes go far beyond ripping off Parts: The Clonus Horror:

1) It rips off Logan's Run, as well. What the HELL?

2) Bad physics and complete disregard for anything even remotely resembling science, endemic to ALL of Michael Bay's oeuvre, are on abundant display here. I could go into more detail on this point, but goddammit, I just don't care enough.

3) Steve Buscemi rail death. Yeah, it's a spoiler; and who could possibly give a shit?

And Worst of All:

4) This movie lures us in with false promises of Scarlett Johansson's breasts, and then does a vicious bait-&-switch, leaving us with nothing more than crappy PG-13 sex (I hate PG-13 sex SO MUCH).

Cibernético II

I thought The Ring was better than Ringu. The story was more filled out, there were less dull moments, and it was scarier.
I really do like pie.

What? You didn't like Bakshi's take on Aragorn the Barbarian?  :)

even if i did like it, not that im saying one or the other, the newer versions were much better.  In fact they were decent movies generally.
