Roger is currently building a small shrine where he will make offerings to the blue old chap possessing one.

Ok so I just read Anthony Lane's review, why do they give him these sort of movies to review, ever? He never likes them, he never understands them, and he evidently never wants to do either of those things. This is fine, he shouldn't be tasked with reviewing them.

It'd be like asking me to review a Godard or Tarrentino movie, other people like them, I don't and I'm never going to, nothing they can do will ever impress me so I would be the last person who should review them.

Yeah, I was also thinking that. Granted, I don't much like David Denby, and I usually prefer that Lane reviews whatever he can. But it probably would have been smart here to pass this one to Denby. Ah, well.

Yeah Denby tends to be a bit more open to popular films. Or maybe they could open up their bench a little to a new reviewer who does like the films attended by Hoi Polloi.  :)

This is going to be the longest four days of my life.

You've got the two picture links.  Just remember to switch hands.

Just got back from the midnight showing.  Snyder was pretty damn faithful to the comic, from making only very minor changes to the plot to his shooting style. I haven't read Watchmen in probably 10 years, but there were a number of shots that I recognzed as being aped directly from the original artwork. I liked it but I wonder how comprehesible it will be to the non-fans.

Some minor notes: (Spoilered, just in case.)

There was even a hint of blue penis in the review.
Only he misspelled it 'blue peanuts'
that's just how we ride.

I am at home so the video will not load and I can only see the first frame,is that thing real?

Did DC really try that?

Doctor Who?

OH that goodness.

And before you start saying how crazy I am for believing that remember that when i grew up they did make a saturday morning Rambo cartoon.

mrbasehart

Yeah, watching the vid, it's obvious it's a parody.  A funny one, though.

Tripe

Yeah the only thing that isn't pitch perfect is the singers voice; it's not quite the right sound for those cartoons which makes it more obvious that it's a parody.

Compare it to say Defenders of the Earth

or  Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles:

or even Jem:

They're obviously trying to ape that sound but they're also obviously taking the piss which the session singers on all of the above weren't doing (which is a reason I'd hate to be a session singer).

Shinigami

If I remember correctly in the comic there was mention of a Saturday morning cartoon that Adrien's company produced to go along with the action figure line.

Okay I did not remember that Defenders of the Earth intro being so AWESOME!

This is my favorite though:

I'm all out for kicks...and every inch of me spells EXCITEMENT!

I went to see Watchmen this evening, and I have to agree with Compound, Synder has stayed faithful to the graphic novel. Still, I think that the 'die hard' graphic novel fans will have a problem with it.......but that's only natural I guess.

I loved it anyway. Super uber violence on a Friday night is great, and I didn't have to go to the pub to see it!
