The theater I was in the sound was so damn loud it would be hard to hear people talking anyway. Not only that, but as far as I know... nobody was opening their traps at all during the movie. Some movie theaters are also taking a stand. The one I go to that's closest to me actually has a policy where if you disturb anybody in the theater for any reason: talking, cell phone, etc, YOU GO OUT, NO REFUNDS. They repeat this on the screen many times, and to the best of my knowledge that's worked pretty well.

Great, but do you have to get up and leave the theatre to draw the attention of that person to someone for anythign to be done?
FINE

Could be a problem...

I wish there was some way to have a kind of silent alarm on every seat.  Push it when someone's being a dick and someone comes to catch them in the act of being a dick.  I'm sure people would abuse something like that and just push it throughout the movie for no reason.  The art house theater I went to while I was in Atlanta had ushers come in once or twice a show, which is nice but not really possible in huge megaplexes.

The easy solution is to eject anyone missusing the button.

I don't think I have ever moved my seats to get away from a loud/rude person. If someone is talking I am usually pretty good at getting them to shut up.

If we can't see a movie at our usual place with reserved seats we generally don't see it.

I wish we had an Alamo Drafthouse here. They kick people out for texting etc....  They kicked some girl out then used her angry phone call as a pre-show clip:

I hoth returned, hehehe....

It was good, I will be getting it on Blu-Ray 3D when it comes out.

Not sure where I'd place it yet, if it stands up to repeat viewings it might be the 3rd best Star Wars film.  It's certainly not as good as Empire Strikes Back, and has a few issues that I think will drop it below A New Hope.

Nice big cushy recliner seats, but mine didn't have power so wouldn't recline, there's one strike against reserved seating.....  Since it was the last row in a small theater I wanted to sit up anyway.

Off to the spoiler thread.

I don't like assigned seating at all. I stopped attending the local cinemas who use it.

Why don't you like it?

I don't like having to sit next to assholes that are going to talk through a movie etc.

I was opposed to it at first but not having to worry about being stuck with shitty seats is great

That's only a concern if you are going right at the start of a run though.

But if it's not at the start of the run, the movie would have already started and you could move to a spare seat

Saw two guys get into a very aggressive fight over that the very last time I went to a cinema with assigned seating.

Sounds like that particular theater has bigger problems than assigned seating. Asshats that'll fight that hard over something so trivial are already looking for an excuse most of the time.

I wasn't sure about assigned seating myself, but I like being able to show up minutes before the previews start and know exactly where I'm going. So far I haven't had any bad experiences, but I usually go to either an Alamo Drafthouse or a Studio Movie Grill, both of which have ways to report rude behavior right from the seat. (Alamo you can write a message to the wait staff on the order sheets at your table and they'll alert management, SMG each seat has a call button for the wait staff.)

For Star Wars I went alone and ended up sitting next to an older lady who was downright adorable throughout the movie with her quiet reactions.

I took my wife and sons to the movie yesterday and overall we liked it. However I could not believe that somebody in the audience would bring a young whiny child to the 3D version.

Rewatching the SWHS reminded me, shouldn't Chad Vader be resurfacing soon?
