Rewatching the SWHS reminded me, shouldn't Chad Vader be resurfacing soon?
He only appears on the mid-trilogy episodes.  ;)

The outrage over this is making me laugh, why it'd be like selling action figures before they were made or something!  :P

Well, you know 900 year old babies, always exploring the world with their mouths.

Considering the trend with main Star Wars protagonists, I wonder how long it'll take for Rey to lose her hand.

RVR, I can't for the life of me imagine why you'd want to see it in Spanish.

I don't think it was his intention to see it in Spanish.

I have had to think about the Force Awakens for the past 2 weeks because I really didn't know if I was being Phantom menaced again or what not... I'm still thinking hard about it, because critical thinking is really becoming too much of an overwhelming activity for me these days, but I'd rank The Force Awakens above a new hope, but below The Empire Strikes Back. That being said, I'd easily rank it far above the prequels.

You know what I hate about myself? When I go to see movies, all I can do is look for flaws instead of trying to enjoy the magic and the overall experience a film has to offer.

I think that has less to do with movies as a whole than it is the fact that Star Wars has been analyzed to death, and will continue to be analyzed to death, because analyzing it to death has become its own Olympic sport.  It has flaws, as do all movies, and comics, and books, and life, but since it's a prime target of analysis mainly due to the prequels themselves, a LOT of people are scrutinizing to ensure that, yes, indeed, it is a sign of positive direction for the franchise.

Like I said in the "Last Movie You Watched" thread, though, I got Arthur Christmas as a gift two years ago and only now had a chance to watch it.  I had no hype, no info, nothing other than the fact it was an Aardman film and I like Aardman.  It too had flaws, but it was probably one of the most enjoyable movies I've watched in a long time, no cynicism required or worries about how the actors were doing (or who was playing who, other than the obvious Hugh Laurie voice), because I had no expectations or worries about what it was going to be.

I think, as a whole, we're turning movies less into enjoyment and more into work with this stuff.  I'm not saying turn your brain off...that solves nothing...but just remember that, to take Randall from Clerks (slightly) out of context, Star Wars is "the social event of the season," and people will talk about it until there's nothing left to say.  It's just the way of the world.

But that doesn't mean movies don't have magic anymore.  I just watched Titanic the other day (slightly under duress), and the first time I saw that movie I was seventeen years younger, thought Leo "DiCraprio" could bite the big one, and that the movie did not deserve the hype, the money, nor the critical acclaim.  But watching it again...no, I still don't think it's a movie I'd watch over and over again, but I rode with it this time, and I found it way more fun the second time around.  It's still got all the same dialogue, padding, and stuff I didn't like before, but that stuff doesn't bother me the way it used to, and DiCaprio has done a lot of good movies since then that aren't "pretty boy" pictures, so I didn't watch it with that same stigma.  Time heals a lot of wounds and can change opinions, and that was one of them for me.

In short (too late), if the movie is making you happy, it did something right.  If analysis is ruining it for you, take a step back and watch something else.  Cleanse the palate.  Pick up Manos on Blu-ray.  That works for most people. ;)
