Oh, I think it's far too late for that.

My brother is gonna have to wait until August to see it. He lives in Japan and a couple weeks ago he was really rubbing it in to all of us that he got to see Iron Man before we did. So, karma, because as much I dig Star Trek, he's way more into than I am, and has been for way longer.

I told him "I'll probably catch an early matinee Friday, because I find I like those. I have no point to make with that, I just think it's funny that I get to and you don't."

Now watch, a meteor is gonna hit my damn car or something on Friday. Damn my hubris.
I used to have an image here, but Photobucket got cheap about remote linking. I guess I'll have to think of something witty instead. Which I will. Later. It caught me by surprise, in all honesty. It's hard to be clever on command, I mean, YOU try it. Be funny: NOW! See, tough. So, gimme a bit, 'kay?

OMG, a famous character from the TV show and movies will be seen......OMG.

Oh wait, that is not a surprise at all.  And I bet watching these prequel movies, we know people that won't die.

Tripe

Next up a remke of Fantasy Island with The Batch and Dinklage.

Wow IMBD sure showed him, I honestly feel bad for anyone who would consider that an achievement.

- how I read any complaint about MST3k (or Star Wars or Ghostbusters)

Caught this earlier today (since apparently it got a Thursday release, which I didn't know until last night). There's a good amount of snappy, fun dialogue, plenty of excellent effects, and action sequences beating down the doors. It's also got a fairly dumb (occasionally irritatingly so) story that keeps getting caught up in twist after twist (and then twists back on the initial twists) and making everyone argue with each other for the purposes of splitting up in order to have dramatic reunions later. The cast still sells it as best they can, much like the first movie (even if Kirk is still a huge dick), and the newcomers are all great (it's just so damn refreshing to see Peter Weller again, and Cumberbatch does what he does best, which is act circles around anyone and everyone in his immediate proximity). But it just doesn't work for me, especially when it turns into a pale retread of Wrath of Khan (complete with the expected shout and all). In fact, much like the last one, it's just not a well-written film, blame for which can be placed at the feet of writers Orci/Kurtzman/Linelof (truly, they are the modern era's Holy Trinity of hacky, mediocre screenwriters).

On a slight side note, I actually watched Wrath of Khan for the very first time a few weeks ago. I found it to be a remarkably compelling and all-together solid movie, one whose dramatic beats (and actual battles of wits) kick this new movie straight to the curb. Not that that's surprising, of course.

Seeing it today, even though I've already read spoilers. It's gonna be awesome.

Bob

Well, the fact that this one is getting bad reviews, this means an iRiff perhaps

Bad reviews? This is the first place I've heard people say anything bad about it. But, I still haven't seen it. I may have a different opinion in 6 hours.

Wrath of Khan is so completely overrated.  I've watched it several times.  Khan doesn't seem like one fourth the badass everyone makes him out to be, and the movie as a whole is dragged down by its poor production values and stodgy old actors.

Into Darkness was a pretty awesome movie, though it felt like it had a few too many false endings.  Khan actually seemed like a threatening, powerful individual instead of a weird guy in an open shirt.
