Unriffed, of course:

At least we know where it came from now...

NRRork

NOW it makes more sense. I was thinking it was one of their normal educational or business shorts when they riffed it.

Which I'm FOR, by the way.
I used to have an image here, but Photobucket got cheap about remote linking. I guess I'll have to think of something witty instead. Which I will. Later. It caught me by surprise, in all honesty. It's hard to be clever on command, I mean, YOU try it. Be funny: NOW! See, tough. So, gimme a bit, 'kay?

Someone actually noticed that RT had a listing for this a while back. I've been searching for the post this evening but I haven't been able to track it down. (I recall it because I watched the linked video and it was indeed Norman.)

I also couldn't find that post. I have a feeling they deleted it to avoid letting the secret out, or something.

Uhhhh...having that short in that context make even LESS sense! What the hell?!

So there is nothing more to this? This wasn't part of a series of shorts?

Created an account to post this. I kinda want to send this info to Mike but I don't know how. Hope he reads this.

Yes, it is part of a series of shorts. I cannot find them on imdb, however I did find them on a site called "Phoenix Learning Group" where they can be purchased.

The first one in the series appear to be called "Norman Krasner"
http://www.phoenixlearninggroup.com/Products/VideoDetail.aspx?id=2427a0a3-9bad-4292-aa8e-620cfafeb2e4&cat=2&sub=9e058f35-1f9c-4642-aab8-89a68db74241

I don't know the order of the other two for sure but I think next comes "Norman Gives a Speech"
http://www.phoenixlearninggroup.com/Products/VideoDetail.aspx?id=4bf842aa-ca01-472f-91da-27128bd5343f&cat=&sub=

And finally the one we know:
http://www.phoenixlearninggroup.com/Products/VideoDetail.aspx?id=979a6d24-dfb1-42be-8327-74a65fab4f53&cat=64&sub=9e058f35-1f9c-4642-aab8-89a68db74241

The price on that particular one is a bit outrageous.

They don't list what company made the videos, so I searched on.

I googled some more and found there are two other videos: "Norman Checks In" and "Krasner, Norman: Beloved Husband of Irma"

http://www.worldcat.org/title/norman-krasner/oclc/025290759 That says they were published by MTI Video, at least on VHS.
Then I found this, full circle:
http://www.phoenixlearninggroup.com/About/

Phoenix acquired MTI, and they don't have the two other films I found listed on their website :(. However, "Krasner, Norman: Beloved Husband of Irma" may be a duplicate title for "Norman Krasner" from my searching.

That's the extent of my google fu!

The DVDs are $14.95 for one short.  UNNNNNNNNGH.

No kidding!

I did find some of our favourite shorts there - like the entire "Beginning Responsibility" series, including "Broken Book Store" and "Taking Care of Your Own Things".  Plus about eight more that are probably just as wonderfully hallucinogenic and ironically teaching that being irresponsible will lead to your possessions talking to you. But wholly-moley, they are soooo overpriced - everything!

That is what you have to pay for industrial anything. They aren't made for consumers, but for business and institutions.  There is a really over the top workplace safety video that I want to own and it costs hundreds of dollars.

I'm trying to figure out what industrial or business or educational use "Welcome Back Norman" could POSSIBLY hold.

Funny you should mention that. I found an abstract of a scholarly article asking just that question:

I love that it specifies, "Norman sighs deeply.." It IS his catch phrase! :^)

Mrs. Dick Courier

OK, Norman.

New Norman short, never saw the first riffed one.

What is the poing of these educational shorts?  What are we learning?
