No, no, I get what you mean. As a movie that ranks as "Important" to the social consciousness or as a big thing in film history, it actually doesn't have a lot going for it. Even technically speaking, as awesome as those tracking shots were, there are some other films that have gone even crazier with them.

But they invented new technology for the one in the car in Children of Men.

the way the polls work is that you click on the little box beside the name and then click the vote button. you don't have to state your choices in the the thread. i know it seems like magic, but it's not.
dF = 0

Care to state your case with a little more eloquence? I've never seen it and I have zero interest in ever seeing it based on your recommendation.

I have not seen it in a while but I believe that was a line from the movie.  Oh and I was not expecting to like it but when I finally did see it I found it to be one of the funniest and most charming movies I have ever seen.

I have a good friend at work who is in his 60s.  He created a list of movies for his kids to help them understand him and his personality.  I've often felt that this is a good idea.  Blues Brothers was one of the movies on his list.

It's extremely funny, has great music, great supporting cast and cameos.  I guess if you don't like the music it might be hard to sit through, but it's upbeat blues music, not the depressing kind.  And did I mention it's pee your pants funny?

Sorry, I haven't read every post so far but is there going to be a way to re-nominate movies from previous polls?  The flaw in the current system is too many must-see movies in the first few polls.  For example everyone should see Metropolis at least once....

Kete

There's no limit on how many times a movie can be nominated.

I was quoting Elwood ;)

And as far as dry comedy goes, it's probably one of the best American movies for it. Then again it has a lot of other humor in it... I guess what it is is that Belushi and Aykroyd are always the straight men and I think everything they do in that movie is hilarious. The scene where they're being severely beaten by the nun in the attic because they can't stop swearing is classic.

The first time I saw them driving around in the mall making those dry comments I was in serious pain and out of breath from laughing so hard.

OK, I guess it's best to wait until the competition dies down a bit to start re-nominating some of the ones that everyone should see once but only serious movie buffs would probably watch more than once...

Yes... in nominating 'The Kid' for one of the earlier votings, I think I suffered from "premature eChaplination".

I sighed, but I felt I had to "like" it.
