Man, with Netflix Instant, "highlights" really is a relative term.

I figured it would be more positive than "things you've heard of" or "things that exist".  Hey, I hear Columbo and Damages are pretty good.  Still, it's been a while since there's been a lot of really great uploads.  Still, always happy to see more TedTalks.

I know, and I appreciate you maintaining the thread. I just wish their movie selection wasn't so dreadful.

Yeah, that's why I singled out movies. Their TV selection is pretty great. Their movie selection sucks ape cock.

I honestly almost never watch movies, so it's not really an issue for me.  Generally if I want to watch a movie it's one of my blu rays, and that's like one a week.

I've given up hoping to find anything good in terms of movies. It sucks, because there are times I just want to watch something good that I haven't seen before, like when I can't sleep. I got so sick of scrolling through page after page of shitty movies I had no interest in watching, I pretty much stopped looking. It shouldn't be a big deal when you find a good movie that you're psyched about watching.

I've noticed Amazon Prime has been getting a few more movies than Netflix, so it's nice to have both.  I got Prime for the free 2 day shipping, when they added streaming it was a nice bonus, now they have one free book a month that you can borrow if you have a kindle device (don't think it works for PC or mobile apps).

I think there are still quite a few great movies, but it is certainly noticeable as of late that there are a lot of forgettable, direct-to-video films.  Sorry 1313 films, but you suck.  Er... bad choice of words.  Still, I have to hand it to you for one of my favourite titles ever.  The film is about an actor who keeps losing auditions to male models and starts killing them off one-by-one, a la Halloween.  The title: Actor Slash Model.

We use all three of those areas. I just set my parents' Roku up on my Amazon account too.

How is the image quality for Amazon on the Roku?  I've been a little disappointed with the Amazon streaming on my Panasonic BD player, stuff that looks fantastic on the computer doesn't look as good on the TV.  Since I've gotten a bit fed up with apple/itunes I've been thinking of switching my AppleTV box to a Roku box.  Although the Netflix interface on the AppleTV is way better than anything else I've used, it's even better than the Netflix website.

Some day I really need to get to the Cook Islands.  You know, see the sites.

Also, Amazon just added their version of a queue (they call it a 'watchlist'), which makes their service about 1000% more usable.

Finally, it was getting annoying having to search for stuff every time you wanted to watch it.

I wonder if they will start up with the emails with crap like "people who put XYZ in their watchlist also liked:".  Like they do with items you search for, or are in your history, or you have ordered anytime in the past...   Those are almost getting to the point where I'll have to unsubscribe from all of Amazon emails except order info.  I turn off my search history but they turn it back on after a month or 2.

With Netflix I only have a few items in my queue, but use the "recently watched" list all the time to return to a series.  They also keep a long search history with no way I've seen to turn it off, kind of annoying from both companies since people are always asking me to look stuff up for them.

US Highlights: Screwballs, The Guild, Trailer Park Boys, Fraggle Rock, Iron Man (the 90's cartoon), Wild Boys, and Fat Albert.

Canadian Hightlight: The Swell Season.

BTW, Screwballs looks like the most 80's movie ever made.

mrbasehart

Screwballs is a terrible Canadian rip-off of Porky's.  Don't watch it.
