The Ninja Turtles are going to be ALIENS now? *sigh*

My world was a little turned upside down when I got roped into seeing "Pain & Gain" in the theater.  Oddly, I loved it.  I think it's the first Michael Bay movie I liked since "The Rock" and honestly I only think I liked that one because I was 13 at the time.  Completely expecting to get back on the hating everything Michael Bay bandwagon when I see the first preview for this one.  Will not be seeing this without a riffrax unless I hear several reviews that I trust telling me otherwise.

The van returns!

Looks pretty good. Although it seems like an odd thing to bring back from the show. I'm glad they're turtles and not aliens, but they are also supposed to be NINJAS, and that isn't exactly stealthy.

Pak-Man

Little things like this give me an inkling of hope. Maybe Bay's particular brand of insanity will blend well with a movie that's obviously trying to base itself off of the also-insane '90s cartoon.

The Lurker

90s? The animated series came out in 87.  There was a 90s live-action series, though.   I heard the 2003 one was good until the Fast-Forward seasons.

Pak-Man

You're correct. It ran through '96 and I didn't discover it until early 1990, so I always think about it as a '90s show.

Just for those keeping score at home:

The '90s live-action series was just awful, the 2003 series was, as you said, really good until the Fast-Forward seasons, the Turtles Forever special where the 2003 turtles met the '87 turtles was brilliant, and the new Nickelodeon series is awesome. :^)

The Lurker

Apparently, Fast-Forward's best episode involved a crossover with The Wild West Cowboys of Moo Mesa, oddly enough.  Next Mutation had a crossover with the Power Rangers, the one that was ongoing at the time.

You are refering to the movies? I think the first one is about as good as you can expect for something based on that show at that time.

And remember, Bay isn't directing it himself, although it does seem to be heavily influenced by him. That is Jonathan Liebesman, director of the Texas Chaninsaw Massacre remake, Battle Los Angeles, and Wrath of the Titans. So, yeah, be afraid, but for the right reasons.

Pak-Man

Naw, I love the movies. I was referring to Next Mutation. :^)

The Lurker

Yeah.  Pak-Man beat me to it.  It was a live-action show that came out in 1997, made by Saban.

It crossed over with Power Rangers In Space (which the end of is seriously one of the best hours of sci-fi television I've seen in a long time, oddly)  ...  The Ninja Turtles live action series was horrendous and I could barely sit through even the cross-over episode.
...and there he was, reigning supreme at number two.  The One... The Only... The Unabeefer.

Johnny Unusual

Now I can't think about "Power Rangers in Space" without thinking of this.

Well now I want to see this movie 1%, up from my previous 0%.  I think the more they release that's positive the better.  This isn't the time for holding back on huge awesome spoilers.

The Lurker

There's a rumor floating around that Mike's pet turtle in the new series might become Slash.

I've allowed very little hope for this movie since old toe-thumbs Fox got cast as April Oneill. And the Shredder being played by generic bad dude with a shotgun from the Opening of Dark Knight isn't exactly helping either...
