Oh, you like reading, do you? You like reading just the way it is now, you say? Well tough, because here's how reading is gonna be FROM NOW ON. From now on, reading will only be done upside-down, see? And someone's gonna drip flat Pepsi into your nose while you read, you get me? And we better not catch you reading outside of a derelict tire factory, because derelict tire factories are officially the ONLY places that reading will be tolerated from now on, okay, wise guy? And no more books, from now on you're only gonna read the labels on your grandpa's medicine, and if you complain, you'll lose privileges to read anything except the letter "Q", capische?

Those rules have nothing to do with our new short, but we do believe in them and will enforce them aggressively. Reading From Now On is the tale of a young, comically illiterate boy who lives in the shadow of an older brother who arrogantly shoves his book-learnin' in everyone's face. Will our hero crumble under the sibling pressure, learn to read, or fake learning to read by memorizing the names of a few pictures and shouting them on demand? Who knows, but it's probably the last one!

Join Mike, Kevin, and Bill for the classic revenge story, Reading From Now On!

First short of the year and it's a good one.

As soon as I saw the classroom, though, first thing that came to mind was, 'HOW DID THEY ARRANGE THE WOODWORK TABLE?!'

Seriously, why are all the samples still doubling the audio? It makes it impossible to listen to.

Just watched this.

Some solid lines throughout, but, for some reason, Bill nailed it for me. The lines were perfect. And I don't know about anyone else, but this short flew by so quickly. Which is good, cuz tho the feel-longer ones make it seem like I'm getting more for my money, it's nice to have something so light and breezy as this. In fact, so light and breezy, I'm not sure what this was supposed to do. Remind kids they can read? Weird.

I guess that was the intent?  Are/were there lots of kids that young really worried about reading?  Maybe they thought illiteracy is all due to fear and self doubt?

When I watched this the first time,  I was dead certain it would turn out that the older brother was illiterate. Guess I was was wrong about that. Turns out he was just a jackass for the first half of the short. Great, so now I'm supposed to like him for "encouraging" his little brother :-\

On a related note, by pure coincidence I watched "Reading: Who Needs It?" immediately before watching this.

Okay I have to ask,how did this short teach kids to read?

It didn't teach any spelling rules or what sounds letters make, all it did was show some letter under pictures.  the Kids may learn the words Hot Dogs but they will not be able to read any words that are not Hot Dogs with out a picture of a Hot Dog above them.

What was the point of this short?

Based on your description...I'd say training them to be McDonalds cashiers.

Good question. I think all of the samples are available on youtube without the audio problems.
Oh bite me, it's fun!

I thought the short was good. Good riffs and the short itself was decent.

I agree the purpose was to tell kids that they probably can read and don't know it.
