Let me jump the gun a little bit and start(even though it's September 30th)
Drag me to hell.... sucked, why? Because looking at the poster, you already know what's
going to happen, and any suspense built up falls flat because of the terrible editing and the
unbelievably stupid premise of a woman cursing some banker for not giving her a THIRD
extension on her home loan! UNBELIEVABLY RETARDED. Evil dead 2 this is not..

The gypsy woman wasn't scary, she was gross and stupid and her scarf coming to
life to try and kill that woman really falls flat as horror. It and the ridiculous number of
jump scares for the sake of jump scares makes this movie little more than a silly mess.

i consider the evil dead series to be one of the ultimate classics of horror, right up there with dracula, frankenstein, the wolfman and the mummy. you knw what thats gonna be my second, the old dracula with lugosi. by the way, does horror comedy meen young frankenstein is valid?

Could it?  Maybe...IT!  COULD!  WOOOOOORK! ;)

Yes, I did say, horror-themed comedy does count.

I actually DID manage to find a few minutes to come up with a list of stuff to cross off as it's done...it's still a work in progress, with the official list to come tomorrow night.  However, I would like some feedback on it, some things to change, add, remove...I wanted it to be something anyone COULD do, but not necessarily stuff everyone WOULD do.  So, if anyone thinks what's there is too easy, give me some notes, and I'll see what I can whip up for tomorrow.  Also, if anyone is artistically inclined to draw up full completion certificates or little doo-dads for the list, let me know.

CONTAINED WITHIN IS THE ROUGH CUT OF THE 2011 HORROR MOVIE A DAY NOTABLE "DUBIOUS RECOGNITIONS" LIST (with corresponding XBox-esque/PS3-like values ascribed): Note that with the exception of the mega-prize, all titles are quotes from horror or horror-themed films.

how about one for watching a non-halloween holiday themed horror movie (ie leprechaun, silent night bloody night)

Hey SJP, does the director's cut work for Alien?
VIVA IL ESORDIO DEL DIABETE ADULTO DUCE!!!

Oh, this is going to be easy.  I could probably achieve all of those with my personal DVD/BD collection, plus I have Netflix and Hulu+ to work with.

How about an achievement for watching a movie from every decade, starting with the 1910s through to the 2010s.

shodan

kicked it off at midnite with evil dead 2 and hot apple cider

As in, can you watch both versions and have them count, or do you mean something else?  Because watching either one once is definitely OK, if that's what you're referring to.

do the deadites from evil dead 2 count as zombies? because they are reanimated living dead, but they have sentience and can move fast and even dance

Johnny Unusual

I'll take part too.  I got a DVD set from the library of public domain horror movies, many of which had VOD rifftrax.  It even had Laser Mission.  By the way, I really hope they do the very bizarre War of the Planets some day.  As well as a very familiar looking film called Attack of the Monsters.

Ah.  Actually, I made two versions, one for the 1979 and one for the 2003 copies of the movie, so matter which one you were watching you'd be covered.

EDIT: Actually, for The Evil Dead, I'm going to make a call...though they LOOK like zombies, I'd actually say that's closer to demonic possession.  That'd actually be a good one to add to the list, in all honesty.

The non-Halloween-themed holiday horror film is an interesting thought...I'll add that one.  The one with the decades is a little tougher, since most of the movies prior to the 1930s are, well, fairly short.  I didn't make it an official rule, but I assumed most of the movies per day would be at least feature length, while most 1910s ones are usually less than 20 minutes.  It's certainly doable, since the horror genre has always been popular, but that alone is making the situation iffy.  Thoughts on this one?

Everyone make sure to at least try and watch The House of the Devil. One of my favorite horror movies in the past few years.

It's in my Netflix Instant queue. Looks like one of the more decent streaming horror offerings.

And yeah, I used to play bass for Streaming Horror Offerings.

You could just start it from the 20's instead of the 10's, plenty of feature length stuff from that decade.
